Who here plays with the Rubik's cube?

My friend solves it within a couple of minutes.

I can solve the first layer within a couple of minutes. Then I spend an eternity solving the others.

I'm talking about the official Rubik's Cube... not the ones you can get in some cheap toy store - the real one has standard colours on each of the 6 sixes, in the 'official' locations (i.e directly opposite of White is Green, etc, etc - I pulled that one of my mind - may not be correct)

Hey direstraits!

I've got my rubik's cube for about 3 years now. I've solved it long time ago, it's an amazing creation. From time to time I enjoy solving it and playing with it, like creating patterns. If you need tips I can help you :D

I personally am too stupid to figure out a Rubik's cube. Or maybe it's the fact that I have a REALLY short attention span. Like twenty seconds or something like that. :D

I solved it for the first time when i was 12, it's not that hard. My brothers cheated once and peeled the stickers and placed them so it looked like they solved it and I had to get a new one.

I don't have the attention span for it. I've tried a couple times, but got bored after about five minutes. You should see me play Monopoly (lots of whining about being bored)

I haven't seen a Rubik's cube in years...I mean 20 years or so (I'm not that old, just been a long time since I was 8). I got it solved the first time, though it took a while (I was only 8). Never tried again.

mehastings: I HATE Monopoly. I also get bored, but mostly I am just too cheap...even with fake money. My husband, however, loves the game. He and his cousins have had games go on for up to a week....even with getting ruthless with one another. I can't even imagine.

I would die. I hate stuff like that (Risk also on the yuck list). I've finally found a board game that I enjoy as someone always wins in less than two hours.

My boyfriend was going through a little Rubik's Cube phase a couple of months ago and one of his friends joined in too. He ended up being able to solve one in about 2 minutes. He basically memorised the instructions and then was able to figure it out himself from then on.

I don't really like them myself, I half solved one a while ago but lost interest (and I didn't have the instruction booklet :p ).

I used to like making patterns on each face of the cube. I think it went something like one colour in the middle and corners and another colour in the squares inbetween. Each face had to have the same pattern (but with different colours obviously). Have no idea how to do it now though.

I'm not good with that kind of game. I do better at crosswords and sudoku, so I'll stick to those. For some reason, a lot of people think sudoku is really hard.

Back in the day (80's) when they were first popular, I solved it once and then the thrill was gone. I haven't touched it since.

The best ones are the one's where the little coloured squares lift off and you can restick then in order; all the yellow one's on one side, blue ones on another side etc.

It's a much quicker way to complete the cube. :)

One of my friends got so frustrated after trying for a week, that they just went online and found directions to solve it. Then they complained that the cube was smarter than them...:D

My brother bought the official Rubik's cube last week while I was home for Spring Break. I solved it once, with the hints it came with. (And ds, green is opposite of blue. Other than that, I don't remember...not that it matters).

I tried to solve it on my own after that, but couldn't get past the first layer. Oh well...
