Ahoy, pirates!

aha, a reading wench :D

havent read a lot of pirates books, but from the few i had, i would recomend "Long John Silver" by Bjorn Larsson, its a fictional autobiography of the good old cook :)

Let's see, I may not be able to list them all for lack of remembering them all.

- Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer
- Curse of the Blue Tattoo by L.A. Meyer
- Under the Jolly Roger by L.A. Meyer
- In the Belly of the Bloodhound by L.A. Meyer (have yet to read it, but can't wait!)
- Pirates! by Ceclia Rees
- The Book of Pirates by Howard Pyle (Pyle rocks!)
- A General History of the Pyrates by Daniel Defoe (have yet to read it)
- How I Became A Pirate by Melinda Long (A cute children's book)
- Pirates by Nigel Cawthorne
- The Pirate Queen by Emily Arnold McCully (Another good children's one with beautiful pictures.)
- Ballad of the Pirate Queens by Jane Yolen (Yet another children's book)

That's what I have right now. I've been a fan of pirates for years, when I started liking them, there wasn't much out there to read. However, with Pirates of the Caribbean out, it seems everyone is more eager to read about Pirates and authors are taking the hint.

My husband and I love pirates. It is one of our "things". No, you dirty minds...not that kind of thing. I buy him little pirate stickers, and he draws jolly roger flags on pieces of paper and tapes them to my antenna like flags. That kind of stuff. Anyway, I haven't read it, but I would really like to buy him Pirates Don't Change Diapers by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon.

The Pirates! series by Gideon Defoe. You'll never find a more accurate or harrowing portrayal of life on the ocean wave. You'd have to go a long way to find more ham too.

Hey there, Litany. You know, between her name and her sideline in pirates, it crossed my mind that this poster was one of your diguises.

Hey! These look like some serious fun. Do they have to be read in order? I'm thinking of some teenage Jr. pirates who might love these.

Definitely read The Scientists first, so they make sense. The Communists is my favourite but there were some people who actually dared to argue with me about which one was best.

Thanks Litany! One of my junior pirates has a birthday coming up in April, and I think he'd like this very much. I should locate the pictures of him and his brother in their pirate garb they wore to the most unusual wedding we've ever attended..they looked downright scary.

I agree with Litany, The Scientists MUST be read first. They are VERY quick reads, so get them all if it is in the budget.

I noticed that two of the books are in a single volume..but doesn't look as nice as the others. I have a few weeks to investigate..
