Your Personal Library

I want to know how many, what genres, authors, and sections your library has.
I have 582 books and 5 pics of my books and shelves, I would put them on here but I can't figure it out.

I know I have covered this ground before, but it may have been a while ago. So, to answer your question: I have no idea exactly how many books I have. The number is probably somewhere between 8 - 10,000. Needless to say, many of the big genres are represented - literature, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy, philosophy, history, biography, etc. - as well as many specialty areas - books about books, books about the Manhattan Project, books about legendary gold and silver mines - weel, you get the idea.

Wow you have a lot of books. How long have you been collecting?
I'm 15 and have been collecting for little under a year, since about august of '06

no its a part

its my book count and currently the most efficient method of keeping track of my books.
bottom beads are 1's
second beads are 10's
thirds are 100's
and so forth

I have been buying books, steadily, for about twice as long as you've been around. I've spent a lot of time running around flea markets, thrift stores, used book stores, etc. However, I don't buy anything that I don't think I might want to read.
I'll also warn you that relentless accumulation can make moving very difficult.

how many you ask?

I've read about 130 some of 'em and am currently reading rainbow six.
the reason for that is i had only about 200 a few weeks back but then that darn library book sale came along and well i bought several hundred books, i couldn't control myself.

aren't library book sales the best? :)
i am not sure how many i have but i'm always buying more, much to the dismay of my partner.

Yes, I have a book buying problem as well...I just keep buying and buying. I have no clue how many books I (we) have, not really that many. And of course that wouldn't count the stacks of books I've taken to Half Price Books and sold. I have had to get out of the habit of just buying random things, so now I just try to buy things that interest me. I'll have to go home and count. Oh, and the books in my house are divided into "his" bookshelves and "her" bookshelves. There is some go-between but mostly we stay out of each others core topics.

I just got married a few months ago, so I don't know how many books we have collectively. Some of my books are still at my parent's house and since we only have one bookshelf so far, a lot of the ones with me are still in boxes. My husband has slightly different taste than me, so there are a lot of his books that I haven't read yet. I went through a phase and bought a whole bunch of books one summer in High School. Since then, I've stuck mostly to the library and only purchased ones that I know I'm going to want to read again.

So, I don't know how many books in my personal library.

well yeah...

Of course library sales are great but cleaning up afterward is always good too, I only bought about 80-90 of those books and got around 200 or so for free because I helped them clean up.

Well at least you're not going to run out!! Were they books you wanted, or did you just take home the left-over ones?

BooknaMug - I've been wanting to read The Screwtape Letters for awhile now - how are you finding it?

well...

Some were ones I had scoped out but ran out of money to buy and others I looked at while I was there helping clean up and decided to get, so all in all yes I did get books I wanted.

I'll try

The only thing that would prevent me from doing so is if I got more books, that could really screw up my to be read list.:D

I have never really counted all of my books... and to tell the truth, I am kind of afraid to do so. I'm sure that it would take me the better part of a day to get them all in the same room to count together.

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that I own somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 books. (And let's not even go into my manga collection.)
