Pirates 3: At World's End

So, has anyone here seen the latest installment of the pirate saga? I saw it a couple hours ago with some friends and I actually thought it was pretty good. I saw 'actually' because all the critics in my city gave it around 1 1/2 stars. Sure, it won't be up for an oscar (except maybe for special effects) but was anyone really expecting that?
I spent the whole movie crying with laughter. The scene with 50 J. Sparrows on the boat...if anyone's seen it you'll know what I mean :D
It was much better than the last one. I personally thought Dead Man's Chest was horrible. It's kind of long (about 3 hours I think) but it goes by quick. I'd recommend seeing it to anyone who liked the previous films.
So, anyone else seen it? What did you think? :)

I loved all three of the Pirates movies. Personally, I liked Dead Man's Chest, but that's okay. Just saw At World's End yesterday and it was amazing. I just loved seeing Sparrow go completely insane. Well...more so than he was before. He's such an amazing character.

I also like that they show how truly unglamorous piracy was while still making it seem somewhat appealing. The characters are well-done because they keep the line between good guy and bad guy so perilously thin, which is how it would have been to those who lived the lifestyle. And then...the fantasy. Who doesn't love craziness and fantasy? And it's blended so well with history that it all seems perfectly reasonable.

I thought it was pretty much perfect. It ended the trilogy well, and if they make another movie, they shall all go to hell for ruining that. The beginning grabbed one's attention nicely with the chilling singing and the child being hanged, and then the rest of the movie just kept that attention awesomely. I liked the way they managed to keep you from feeling one emotion too long. For instance, there wasn't enough time to get saddened by the way the two lovebirds kept treating each other like shit; generous helpings of humour were alway there to keep the sadness at bay. I'll admit that bits of it were very dramatic, and that one scene reminded me a little too much of Dude, Where's My Car, but otherwise it was great. They managed to make the characters grow--especially my favourite, Elizabeth--without really focusing on that growth so much that they lost the plot, a fatal flaw too many movies seem to make.

Anyway, t'was nifty.

I didn't agree with the critics either - At World's End was quite good, in my opinion.

And I've heard a lot of people say that the sequels couldn't compare with the first one, but I was watching it a few days ago and I think Curse of the Black Pearl is probably my least favorite.

Dead Man's Chest

At World's End

Curse of the Black Pearl

In that order. I enjoyed it, and the scene where Sparrow was on the white beach going bonkers--man oh man that rocked. I was reading a thing on Depp the other day and supposedly he's the one who made Jack the loony guy that he is. From what the article said, Disney was uncertain whether audience would accept that sort of character or not. Just thought I'd mention that, find it kind of ironic.

The last two Pirates movies were pretty forgettable. Number three was waaaaay too long. Edit edit edit. The scene with the multiple Johnny Depps gave me a splitting headache and the ending with the Calypso character just made me go "ehhhh." But of course they set it up for a 4th by showing Jack Sparrow floating off into the distance with map in hand. I don't think we've seen the last Pirates movie yet. And too bad for that.

I thought the movie started well, but lost it's edge in the middle, finally picking up again towards the end.

I really didn't enjoy the scene with Jack in the 'afterlife' and found myself rummaging through my bag for more munches to relieve my boredom. There were a few funny parts to this movie though, one being where monkey Jack holds a gun to the parrot.

If you are a fan of pirates of the Caribbean then it's worth watching, but other than that you might end up disappointed.

actually i thought it was pretty good, it can't compare to the first- no doubt but it was definitely, in my opinion, better than the second by far! it was the perfect ending to a trilogy to capture the attention of different audiences (of course I'm bias because i thought Will looked the best in this film:D ) but i left during the credits and i heard rumors that there was an "easter egg" (i term i never heard referred to that before) at the end of the film with Elizabeth, will and baby will at the end of the credits - anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?
