What do you use as a bookmark?

I love bookmarks. I don't use them though, I use random bits of paper from around me, but I have my eye on my mom's bookmark. She got it from my step-dad when he joined the History Channel Club thing. It has this little clip on one end that hooks to the spine of the book, and then a ribbon and a little metal tag on the end of the ribbon. *sigh* It is so cool. :)

At the moment I'm using a gold disk bookmark with Chinese symbols on it. It's pretty cool to look at, even though I can't remember what the symbols stand for, but it does have a habit of flying out of the book if you hold it upside down :(

I do have a black cat bookmark that I use too, but it's seen better days :p

I never fold the corner of my own books, but will admit to folding the corner of library books to note pages of interest

I also use my bus pass for the month, which I wouldn't recommend because I have had times where it has fallen out and then I have to scramble looking for it as it is the way that I get around :) But if you don't have a pocket for your bus pass, its the best way of making sure that its there :)

I can't bring myself to dog-ear the pages of my books, but I have a hard time keeping track of "real" bookmarks. So I tend to stick whatever's laying around in my books--random pieces of paper, index cards, pens...a couple of days ago I found half a pad of post-it notes holding my place inside a textbook. I also like those jumbo-sized paperclips for bookmarks, since I can mark my place and section off what I want to get read in the next sitting at the same time.

If I happen to be extrordinarily bord at the time, I will on rare occasions create a book mark on my computer and print out the book mark on a small piece of photo paper. Otherwise I use little tidbits from around the house or pre-existing bookmarks laying around the homestead.

I keep old Christmas and birthday cards and cut these into nice bookmark sizes, attempting to keep the pictures of cats etc whole. Then I've both provided myself with plenty of bookmarks to place around the house, and recycled my cards.

All it takes it an hour of interesting radio chatting in the background and a desire to do something with my hands while listening.

I use whatevers lying around, anything really. I just hate having to fold the pages (which I rarely do). Right now my bookmark is some old Marvel Comics collecter card. Captain America Baby!

I usually use the free bookmarks I pick up from the library or bookstores. I used to buy bookmarks, but I found that I would either lose them or wear them out. :D I have to use some kind of 'proper' bookmark though - I can't just use a slip of paper. That would bug me. :p Don't ask me why. :D

Right now, I'm using a Valentine that comes with a lollipop (and it's not from this year). It's a Marvel one with Storm. It says, "There's electricity between us, Valentine!"

I use random things. My latest one was the sticker from the book cover. Otherwise, I use the nearest piece of paper. Sometimes I just don't feel like using one and at all and I just remember the page number or what chapter I'm on. I rarely fold the page corners though because I'm weird about taking care of my books.

I fold the corner of the page... BUT, I like doing this because usually when I read, I'll read at least 50 pages. When I finish the book, I like to see where I stopped and started again. It feels kinda like an accomplishment, haha, I don't know. But in hardcover books, I NEVER fold the corner, I usually take the flap of the cover and use that.

I usually end up using a scrap piece of paper. I recently moved and have yet to find my nicer bookmarks that I love. I never fold the corner.
