Author: Most Read...

I hate to say it because it makes me sound like a raving fangirl when I say it (and I am most certainly not), but the author whose books I have read the most of has been Stephen King. I tapered off when it came to his books after Hearts In Atlantis, but I occasionally pick one up every now and then to give it a try.

After that it would probably be a toss-up between Clive Barker and Emmuska Orczy because I think I've read close to the same amount between the two of them.

I hope this is what you were meaning when you phrased your question.

Oh, I can soooo beat that. When I was a teenager, I read every one of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern books...multiple times. I was so obsessed that people still give me her latest Pern books as soon as they come out, even though I haven't actually read any of them in almost a decade.
 
I was really into Brian Jacques' Redwall series when I was younger, and now that I think about it, years later he's probably still the author I've read the most. Holly Lisle is a pretty close second, though.
 
James Herbert

Herbert's books have all had me enthralled from start to finish. In my opinion he is easily the leader in thriller writing.
 
i must say its a 3way tie between king koontz and john saul, mostly because when i was a teenager i read everything i could get my hands on of the three mentioned. in the last few years id have to say though, its probly anne rice and david morrell .

Have you read Saul's The Blackstone Chronicles?
 
I also read an absurd amount of R.L. Stine books growing up. ;) I always liked that novel Superstition that he wrote. I think I still have it somewhere around here...
 
Oh yes, I read R.L. Stine lots too. Now that he's mentioned, I kind of miss reading his books. :p I should go and find them in the library!
 
Looking at the bookshelves, there's a shed load of King from when I was a nipper, but he has since been overtaken by Robert Rankin. There's a fair bit of Sherri S Tepper too, so she might be runner up, but I didn't do a count.
