June 2007 reads

I picked up Book 2 of Imajica at a used book store, not realizing it. I'm planning to get Book 1 soon and start reading it. Have you read Galilee?

"How to be Idle" - Tom Hodgkinson
"The Neverending Story" - Michael Ende
"Sociology: A Very Short Introduction" - Steve Bruce

My June reads were:

The Interpretation of Murder - Jed Rubenfeld (very enjoyable book, a bit of a 'who-dunnit', with some 'red herrings' thrown in along the way).

The Swarm - Frank Schatzing (long and dense read; highly recommended).

Monday Mourning - Kathy Reichs (Meh...run-of-the-mill murder mystery).

A Spot of Bother - Mark Haddon (Very funny, sweet, entertaining read. I think I preferred this one to his previous book).

I also started, and am currently reading An Instance of the Fingerpost by Iain Pears. Another good read, and one I had been meaning to pick up for a long time.

It wasn't my favorite, but I did like it. No, Imajica is my favorite. Yeah, I don't like how the mass market paperback had to be divided into two volumes. Pie 'o' pah is my favorite character in that book. I wonder if I am alone in that respect? Sacrament began my obsession with foxes. ;)

The Big Over Easy - Fforde, Jasper 3/5
Crime and Punishment - Dostoevsky, Fyodor 5/5
The Stain - Ducornet, Rikki 3/5
Varför tror du vi låter som vi låter? Svensk punk 1977-1981 3/5
Turning Back the Clock - Eco, Umberto 5/5
Rabbit, Run - Updike, John 4/5
The God Delusion - Dawkins, Richard 4/5
The Great Gatsby - Fitzgerald, F Scott 4/5

I know I'm a bit late.

Read in June:

"Bag of Bones" - Stephen King (actually was a re-read, but I couldn't remember most of the story)
"The Burning Times" - Jeanne Kalogridis
"Estrela de Seis Pontas" - Manuel Tiago (about a Portuguese prison during Salazar's dictatorship)
"Uma Deusa na Bruma" - João Aguiar (about the north of Portugal during the Romans' occupation)
