Roland Merullo: Golfing With God

A wonderful book by Roland Merullo.
I'm not quite done reading it yet - but I'm giving it 5 of 5 stars.
I won't write about the story line - actually the title
Golfing With God
reveals as much about the plot as you need to know right now.
I will say that it is expertly written, a total joy from page 1.
It helps if you play and love golf, as I do - but it's not necessary. I would still highly recommend the book even if you don't know a 3 wood from a sand wedge.

If God had been presented to me as I was growing up, as HE/SHE is presented in Golfing With God, I'd have a lot more faith in HIS/HER existence.
The book actually answers some of the questions that we regularly ask - such as:
"If there really is a loving and caring God, why does He cause natural diasters?"
and
"Why do innocent and good people suffer while evil bastards seem to be rewarded?"
and questions like that.
Yes, they really are answered.
Run out right now and buy Golfing With God!
It's simply amazing.

Does it answer this question: Is god actually a force for good or is it that he is simply not a force for evil? This question is sort of dealt with in a series of books by F. Paul Wilson, beginning with "The Keep".

God is definitely portrayed as a force for good.
But as you might expect, it's not all that simple.
God has a sense of humor - that's for sure.
What is clear is that God is a compassionate and wise entity, does not control every action or event on earth, and that people have free will and act according to their own judgements and decisions.
It's a God I can live with - not at all the Old Testament hardass that I rejected years ago.
