Stephenie Meyer: Twilight & New Moon

I have a friend who had to read Twilight for a book club she is in and LOVED it. Of course, finished it in no time and went and bought the New Moon and then recommended that I read them. SO of course, I went and bought Twilight and it is in my TBR pile :D

drop everything else and read that now. I read it and then bought the audio so I could relive it. It's amazing. truly amazing.

I couldn't finish Twilight. I found it to be such a typical romantic novel that just happened to have vampires in it that it made me snore. The main character was sterotyped by being the girl who gets into trouble and having her vampire love interest save her all the time, the typical love interest hero saving her contestly, getting mad at her like she's his child. Ugh the characters were done a million times over. One good point was it made me feel good and homey reading it and she writes very beautifuly. Just needs to work on her characters and be more original.

One of my friends has spoken very highly of Twilight, and has interested me enough that I want to check it out myself.

That's me!

I absolutely love these two books. Did you know she has one due out in spring and another planned, all in the same series. I'm psyched!

However, at first, I did feel it to be a normal romantic novel, but towards the end, it changed, and the second one completely threw off that stereotype.

p.s. I was going to start a thread on this, but I thought no one would know about her. I'm glad people do.

I loved Twilight and asked for New Moon for Christmas. I've never read any books about vampires, but adored this one. I'm thinking of reading some of Anne Rice's stuff now.

i do realize that twilight is a typical vampire romance-y novel, but it's still very captivating, a very interesting story, and I could really relate to bella and her love of books and being good at school. I'm getting new moon from the library tommorow.

I loved this book! I got Twilight ("Biss zum Morgengrauen") and i read it on one day. I always loved vampires, so I had to read this book. I haven't read New Moon yet, because I want to read it in german.

Stephanie Meyer is writing a third book which looks at the events of the first book but through Edward's eyes: it is called Edward's Book, I think.

My sister has told me I MUST read her books and I want to....someday when my TBR pile goes down some. My sister also said there may be a film in the near future for Twilight. I believe her website talks all about the film: stepheniemeyer.com

I enjoyed reading "Twilight" and I think it's definitely worth reading, I can't say the same about "New Moon". I was actually disappointed after reading it. Luckily, I let aside the prejudice and read the 3rd book "Eclipse" which I believe is the best book of the series so far.

Edward or Jacob?

Everybody I knew was reading this series, so I was curious and read Twilight, but I just didn't get it. What was all the hype? I perserved and read New Moon and it just got better. Maybe because I wasn't into Edwards character, and after all he is the main love interest. Cuddling up to a hard as a rock and freezing cold body does not sound like my idea of fun. But Jacob? Now that I could imagine. A nice warm, cozy person. Now that's better. Who would you pick?

Anybody? Surely there's some women out there who have an opinion on this?

I felt the exact same way. Twilight was just eh for me, but New Moon was better. Still not up to the hype, I don't think, but enjoyable (whereas Twilight was tolerable). I also didn't like Edward much, and Bella just annoys me. Jacob is much better, though I like how Edward looks better (if not how he feels).

So what type of book do you read? With all the books out there it is a little hard to be 100% original all the time. Maybe you need to learn to be able to sit back and enjoy a book instead of finding something to criticize in every word.

I read Twilight in two days because I found it really captivating, almost addictive. I'm not sure exactly what it is about it but I never put it down! I'm reading the second book now and I have almost finished that. Sometimes the way Bella thinks is pretty crazy! When you think about it, it really is just another story but it has caught me the way no other book does...

Bella is kind of sappy. I have to keep reminding myself that she's a teenager. A teenager in love, which is even more dangerous!
