First book

Mine was Lois Duncan.. I can't remember which book it was though..

The only reason I remember that is because I remember writing her in 7th grade to tell her that she was the reason why I began to love books.

She actually wrote back too, oddly enough.

First book? Holy cow that's a long time to think back...

Well the first book that seriously got me into reading was A Graveyard for Lunatics by Ray Bradbury.

I loved Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew. I also enjoyed the Hardy Boys books. I'm pretty sure I had every one of each of those series. I also read The Chronicles of Narnia series.

I remember reading the Sweet Valley High books when I was in middle school. I wonder if I would find those interesting now.:p

Encyclopedia Brown....that arouses some vague memories...I read some Sweet Valley High when I was younger too.

Anyone read The Last Of The Really Great Whangdoodles by Julie Andrews? I remember reading that in 5th grade and absolutely loving it.

Mine has to be "Jeremy Thatcher the Dragon Hatcher" that was the book that got me into reading for fun instead of for knowledge which i thing i read in first or second grade when i decided to see what all the novel hype was about.
That book was sad at the ending. Combined with that book and Flight of the Dragon Kyn by Susan Fletcher I got hooked into reading at about 7 or 8 years old.

I don't think there was a first book. I've since I was four, and every book has made me want to read. Some books sent me in different directions for awhile.

''The Mystery of the Green Ghost'' made me want to read mysteries, as did Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie.

The cover of Stephen King's " Night Shift", with the hand, made me want to read horror. ( although I must confess, " Frankenstein" contributed seriously to that addiction as well.)
