Van Helsing!

And I still don't get what your problem is with The Day After Tomorrow.
I think I do. It's the whole fantasy dressed up as fact thing. When it's a completely fantastical scenario, like hobbits or robots or monster, then you suspend your disbelief, and they can make up whatever they like because you're in their world which obeys their laws of physics. But when it's based in the here and now and they're just making up stuff left right and centre it's annoying and everything mistake/fib pulls you back into reality and away from the film.

Exactly. :)

Plus they are just bad film makers. Saw the trailer yesterday. Same ol rubbish. A wise professor who knows everything is stuck with some goverment types. His loved one is far away in another part of the city. City gets destroyed while holed up general types try to work out how to solve everything. Didn't they DO this already in ID4?

Rubbish! :D

harumpf.

Was just discussing this with a friend of mine, and he summed it up best.
Said it was like the director was behind you kicking your seat the whole time. Also, it was like watching a video game when someone else has the controller, always a frustrating experience.

Fair enough. I don't agree, but I see your point. Apparently suspension of disbelief is easier for me than it is for you.

Cheers, Martin

I find a lot of 'real world' stuff quite annoying actually. I can't sit through an episode of CSI coz it's filled with so much nonsense dressed up as fact. But if the whole thing was about Goblins committing terrible crimes against Hobbit folk I probably wouldn't have a problem with them talking gibberish at all.
