I'm in. I'll take the book with me when we go so I'll be ready to discuss upon my return. That is of course dependant whether my wife will allow me the pleasure of a good book while we're celebrating #29.

Life is good.

Congrats for the #29 Robert!

I also wanted to add that Silverseason has suggested we pick December's book too.

I personally like the month to month discussion.

What does everyone else think?

I'm in for Uncle Tom.

I think it premature to start discussing the December selection. Wait until Sept 1, talk about choices during the month of Sept and winnow them down to half a dozen, then have a poll from Oct 1-15 to select the favorite. That gives six weeks to read the book.

I usually start the BOM the 1st day of discussion or the night before. That's just me though.

I'm still working through Sons and Lovers for next month's discussion - I was a bit late finishing Embers and the discussion was over before I was finished. Perhaps I'm better off taking a month off and getting ahead?

I own copies of both Uncle Tom's Cabin and Frankenstein so I'm fine with Uncle for November with some interest similar to Silverseason of reading Frankenstein in the short month of December.

I haven't even started it.:D

Eh, I prefer we discuss the nominations for December. I like Frankenstein but it's not something I want to reread right away.

I caught the reread, but thought the observation might be of general interest anyway. The story comes with high credentials for being on the list -- contrary to my own impressions -- according to what one forum member "splained" to me elsewhere at great length. So it can be a worthy book for extended discussion after a little research into its literary, historical and social context. But you probably knew all that; the other person did. I was the naif.
