Nicholas Sparks: The Notebook

I've also read the book after I saw the film. I loved both. It's a wonderful. I especially like the idea of old Noah and his notebook, as he is reading it to his wife over and over again.

Aww, come on! You'll start me crying again.

I loved the book. I read a few other books by Sparks but I didn't like them because they seemed too trite and/or unbelievable to me. The Notebook was based on a true story so maybe that is why I liked it more than his other books.

Read it a few years ago while in college. My roommates gave me a hard time at first when they saw I was reading it. I can't even remember why I started reading it. I thought it was a good story, that explores all of the readers emotions. I just remember reading the last 100+ pages deep into the night because I didn't want to put it down and have to start it again the next day. I saw the movie shortly after.

I haven't read any other Sparks books, and while it is always possible, I don't see my myself reading any others in the future.

I have just picked this book up but havent read it yet. I loved the moive cry'd alot :) . Any one know any other books similar or just good romances :).

I've also read the book, but after I saw the movie, and maybe that's why I prefer the movie. It's a wonderful love story, but I had no ideia it was based in a true story. It just gives it a whole new dimension...

I haven't read any of his other books, but I have most of them, cause my mom is a big fan. I think I'll read another one in the fall...

I liked the book and also shed some tears while reading it. To me, it's Sparks's best book ... his later works often were too kitschy for my taste (sorry to all Sparks fans, don't take it personal.)

I saw the movie first and loved it, so I figured I would like the book. I was wrong - I hated the book because it seemed so shallow compared to the movie. This doesn't happen all that often, where the movie is better than the book, but I thought the actors did such a great job with the characters in the movie. When I sat down to read the book I was expecting the same thing and they just didn't measure up. Sorry...

My feelings exactly! Although I didn't exactly hate the book, I was just a little bit disapointed with it because I had such high expectations. Maybe it would have been different if I had read the book first, but the truth is it was the movie that made me want to read the book...

I was a bit similar. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the book, but I loved the movie so much, and the book just was not the same. Something didn't feel right. However, I'm sure I would have felt differently if I'd read the book first.

I have not found any info that The Notebook was based on a true story, although his sister Dana who passed away in 2000 was "the inspiration for the main character in A Walk to Remember".

I've read The Notebook many many times...and love it more each time. I can't bring myself to watch the movie though...because I think I will cry that much harder the next time I read it.

I haven't read this book or seen the film, but I really want to to find out how I feel about it. I work with people with dementia and see how families cope with loved ones slipping away from them as they lose their memories.
