Stephenie Meyer: Twilight & New Moon

I get how Bella can bug you, but I thought Twilight was really good. I can't just pick up one book and start reading it from there because I want the whole thing. Plus, with the first one, if you like the romance part of it, then that's the best because of Edward and how everything is new then.

I just finished New Moon and now I am reading Eclipse. I like the books and I heard there is a movie coming out!
PS can someone tell me how to start threads...

I know, I love the Twilight series. And I know how Bella bugs you. If you were her, would you pick Jacob or Edward? And it's so romantic, Bella's so lucky! But I think the Bella-getting-married-to-Edward-issue is kind of extreme. But I'm looking very forward to the movie, even though some people are complaining about the cast.... =]

New as of this morning: Breaking Dawn, the fourth Book in the Twilight Series, will be released on Saturday, August 2nd, 2008.

Let the hysteria begin.

Its been announced that the 4th book breaking dawn will be released on the 2nd of August. i've already pre-ordered my copy.

I read the first book twlight in less than a day The book was not amazing but it was captivating; a book I just couldnt put down. Now I'm on New Moon and I was hoping it would capture me just as the first did but instead I find it rather boring maybe I just need to read farther into it but so far its completely boring me.

I CANNOT wait for the movie =]!!!

The Twilight Series are some of my favorite books. I like her view on vampire's. I can not wait until Breaking Dawn is released.

One thing that people need to realize is that she does write for young adults. Some of the romance will be simple due to the fact that it is for younger people. I am interested to see how Edward and Bella face this mariage together.

I couldn't finish Twilight. I found it to be such a typical romantic novel that just happened to have vampires in it that it made me snore. The main character was sterotyped by being the girl who gets into trouble and having her vampire love interest save her all the time, the typical love interest hero saving her contestly, getting mad at her like she's his child. Ugh the characters were done a million times over. One good point was it made me feel good and homey reading it and she writes very beautifuly. Just needs to work on her characters and be more original.

Ahh, that's true! It's such a shame that. But anyone who can use such a cliched (that's not even a word is it?) storyline and make it work must be a talented writer. I've bought the current three out but... I don't intend on buying the rest.
I'm still searching for a vampire love story that is ORIGINAL...
I have however finished reading them with the encouragement of all of the book readers in my year. TBR pile is still stacking up though.

I absolutely love her books!
I fell in love with the Twilight Series soooo much.
Can't wait for Breaking Dawn to come out.
As well as to read The Host.
She is a wonderful author.

I haven't read the series but her new book, not part of the series, looks pretty original. i haven't read it, it's on my TBR list, but how much more original can you get with a love triangle with only two bodies?

Twilight...Jacob is a Doorknob!

OK, My wife told me the other night that she would marry Edward! I hadn't read the books, but I knew from listening to her that Edward was a vampire.

I tried to stoke the love fire a bit by saying, in my best Transylvanian accent, "I vant to suck your blood bwaahaahaa", while going in for a neck kiss. It didn't work AT ALL! She said, "That's exactly the kind of thing Edward would NEVER do." and pushed me away.

So, I figured I'd better find out about this Edward guy. I've read the first 2 books this week, I am shocked. I think Edward is a total doorknob. If you deleted the words; beautiful, incredibly beautiful, unbelievably beautiful and painfully beautiful... then all we would know about Edward is that he is cold, fast, strong and spent 10 years of his life sucking human blood. What is the attraction? He never does anything funny like Jacob. kissing him would be like making out with a marble bust. He's 107 years old and goes to high school for crying out loud. I mean, his girlfriend dies, (or he thinks she does) and he tries to kill himself? What, did he stop maturing when he became a vampire at 17? I'll admit that Jacob can be immature, but he has a good excuse, he's 16.

I'm not ragging on the books. I've never read anything "romance" before, so it was a little gaggy, but I like her 1st person narrative, and her style. I just can't understand what the attraction is to Edward. I pointed some of my thoughts out to my wife and she said I was being a jerk. IDK. I talked to the only other guy I know who had read the books and he said that he thought Edward was lame too.

What's the appeal?
If Edward was ugly, would Bella give him a second thought?

Finished Book 3 Eclipse today. I liked this book the best. Edward shows genuine decency and I can see why Bella, and the Mrs like him. I am just a little disappointed in the development of the characters of Bella and Jacob.

It seems hugely incongruent that Bella would be so eager to give up her whole mortal life for Edward, and become a blood thirsty vampire, but would be unwilling to marry him. She seems worried about what others will think and tells Jacob, "I'm not that person, I never saw myself getting married after high school." Well, I doubt she saw herself joining the ranks of the undead either. Why would she care what others think about her marriage timing when she is a freakin' vampire?

Jacob.... I didn't like the scene where he more or less attacks Bella and she breaks her hand on his jaw, too bad she didn't have pepper spray, it works on dogs. I realize that at 16-17 boys have more hormones than a farm pig, but that just didn't seem like Jacob.

I am going to take a break from romance. I think I am on romance overload. I found a cool book by Orson Scott Card so I'll dive into that, and I am going to read "the Idiot" by Dostoevsky before I dive back into the tale of this gruesome threesome.

It was good to finally have some action. As a guy, it is annoying as heck to have all these cool vampires and werewolves and no fighting. I enjoyed the battle between Victoria and her "newborns" and the local undead/mutants quite a bit.

I just think it's great to find a guy who's willing to read these books. So many of my guy friends, including my husband, refuse to because it's geared toward female teens. But I think there is still value in her stories and her writing is entertaining even without all the romance.

And I don't really get Edward either and I'm a girl...

Try The Host - it's not quite so sappy even though there is a love story.

After that part in the book, and all through Breaking Dawn my love for Jacob declined dramatically.
I dont like how his character progressed..

You'd be better off not getting swept away in the Twilight current.

Yeah.. I read the first book and started the second.. they are 500 page stories about a girl who is in love with a vampire that smiles a lot... lol...

btw, Edward is pretty lame. He needs to get over it and turn the girl into a vampire already. Then they need to start battling werewolves or something.

I am like half-way through new moon now. I guess Edward isn't as lame as I thought he was. Jacob is way lamer. Edward needs to come beat his ass and needs to take his girl back.
