Do you keep a book list?

For several years now I have been keeping track of the books I own and read in a little notebook. I need to take advantage of a site such as Goodreads or Librarything, and make my lists a little more organised.
 
I discovered goodreads earlier in the year & its been a very enjoyable thing for me to have a catalogue of all the books I own, what Ive read, & what is waiting to be read. Ive always wanted to have such a list. Its cool to write your own little "reviews" (mine are more comments as opposed to plot summaries, etc) & then go back & read them later. There are so many books that I read 10-15 yrs ago that I honestly dont remember much about, & I feel like if I had this tool available back then it would have been a real asset to me. I guess I could have made an Excel spreadsheet or something, but I hate Excel & goodreads has a really nice layout. If you think you have too many books to do this, think again! I have over 1000 books & it was a delight to add them all. Granted, it took a bit of time, but it was well worth it!
 
Goodreads is my old standby. I'm usually one to loan books to people without expecting their return. Goodreads is an awesome way to intangibly organize what I've read, and what I plan on reading - plus a little extra info on the side.
 
I have LibraryThing for the books I own and I use a TBR tag to keep track of what I haven't read yet. I don't think I could live without it. Ok yes I could, but I don't want to. :)

For the books I want to purchase I keep track of them a few different ways. I have a small spiral bound notebook tucked in a pocket of my purse. That way when I'm at a bookstore and don't seem to have any money (often lately) I can write the titles and authors down. The only fault I find with this method is that I sometimes can't remember why I wanted to read the book. I also have a wishlist on Amazon which is growing longer and longer with each passing day. This list has a few of the books from the little notebook, but most them are not duplicates. I also have typed out lists of particular authors complete works that I keep in my purse. I think among those I have lists for are Elizabeth Gaskell, Rosmary Sutcliff, and Jane Yolen.

LibraryThing also allows you to export your library into excel. Which I recently did b/c I think I may have forgotten to catalog some of books. I'm going to cross reference the list with my shelves. That is going to take a while.

Reading some of the older posts I can't imagine remembering every book I have ever read. I mean I can look at my mother's shelves of children's books and remember how we read particular ones a dozen or so times (I think my mom has some of them memorized still), but every single book I have read?!
 
I post all my reviews on Library Thing, and I also have a blog where I post my reviews. I like to look back and see what I was reading and when.
 
I used to keep a book list of all the books I have, but haven't bothered to update it. So now I just keep a list for the books I want to get next and cross it off when I have got it.
 
I've been keeping track of mine since I starting reading for pleasure about 12 years ago. I started out with a simple text file but now use Excel.
 
Thanks to this thread, I found out about Goodreads. I made a list and I'll post it as soon as I'm done writing the mini reviews. Cool site for sure. Kinda makes me sad that I got rid of all of my old books.

Now that's just ludicrous. Excel and books should not appear in the same contextual format. = P
