One of the most thrilling writers I've had the pleasure to read.

The words that come to my mind are absorbing and intriguing. Moreover, the climaxes of most of his books are astonishing.

List of books

The Naked Face
A Stranger In The Mirror
Rage of Angels
If Tomorrow Comes
The Sands Of Time
The Doomsday Conspiracy
Nothing Lasts Forever
Morning Noon and Night
The Stars Shine Down
Memories of Midnight
Windmills of the Gods
Master of the Game
Bloodline
The Other Side of Midnight
The Sky Is Falling

My favorite books are The Other Side of Midnight and Memories of Midnight. What do you think of him as a writer and which books do you like/dislike?

Many years ago when he was at the height of his popularity he gave an interview somewhere and said he considered himself an entertainer who gives his readers what they obviously want SEX MONEY POWER. He was quite serious and his books still sell in the gazillions. I read maybe 3 or 4 of his novels many years ago and think he knew himself and his readers well. He also had great respect for both.

I have not read him in many many years but from what I remember his books are fast beach reads which usually are very entertaining.

I enjoyed Sidney Sheldon some years ago, his novels are fast-paced and entertaining. However, I found a number of his books rather formulaic and after reading a number of them, I found myself having the feeling of deja-vu.

However, Master of the Game and The Doomsday Conspiracy still stand out to me as good reads.

I love a Sidney Sheldon book on a cold, lazy winter night. The Stars Shine Down is my favourite. But you're right though, reading too many in a row can get repetitive. I usually limit myself to one or two a year.

Sheldon is my daughter's favorite author and she has read all of his books. She wrote to him once several years ago and he responded, which thrilled her to no end. She was very upset on the day he died.

Have you read his last book, "The Other Side of Me"? It is about his life and I enjoyed that book.

Yes, you are correct in saying Sheldon knew what readers wanted from him. In the interview I cited above he went on to say something like he knows his audience and they like to read about money, power and sex ... not necessarily in that order. Well they are things we all think about in life, it's no wonder millions want to read stories about people
involved with those things.
If you like Sheldon I think you all would also like Nelson DeMille ... his work is comparable to Sheldon's IMO.

i am an ardent fan of Sidney Sheldon. i have covered all in the the list that you have mentioned. however, my personal favorite is The Doomsday Conspiracy(bcoz it is the 1st novel of Sidney Sheldon thati read). i also liked Rage of Angels, A Stranger In The Mirror....actually all his stories are good, very good infact, thats why difficult to pick which one i enjoy reading more.

I didn’t read every book of Sidney Sheldon yet, but quite a lot. I like his style of writing and his fascinating stories full of unexpected twists. He is one of my favourite authors.

Regarding his books, I'm a big fan of „Master of the game“.
It’s a kind of family saga which describes the rise of a family empire over several generations. It’s about power, wealth, intrigues, destiny and romances…
Although the book is an easy reading the story is always gripping and captivating. I can highly recommend it!!!
