The Da Vinci Code V.S. Angels and Demons

I read Da Vinci Code and enjoyed it until near the end when the repetetive and limited vocabulary began to bore me, the absurdity of the plot became too absurd and the ending was just about the worst ending that he could have possibly written for such a page turner. I think that if the ending had been any good I would have overlooked all the other faults but in fact the ending made me go back and pick apart all the other irritations I had about the book.

I read Deception Point which was truly awful - the second worst book I have ever read after Michael Crighton's ludicrous "Congo". The plot was so thin and predictable that I wondered if it were published as a joke.

As for A & D I cannot comment but I cannot imagine it being anything other than dross. Entertaining dross perhaps, but I am sure that the characters will be carbon copies of other Dan Brown characters, the plot will be so fast as to be devoid of atmosphere and the vocabulary will be that of a 15 year old student.

Try something else.

Ditto. If you "like" TDVC and want something written a hell of a lot better give it a shot. Ecco is a great author, one of my favorites. And yes the ending. It's a nut cracker for sure!

Angels And Demons the Movie release date in the UK is May 2009.

Not sure if Foucault's Pendulum is even a movie yet. :lol:

I'm sure it isn't. If for no other reason, then because Eco refuses to have his books filmed since he saw what they did to Name of the Rose.

Then again, I don't know what that has to do with anything. I mean, obviously you can't be saying that the quality of a book can be determined by whether or not someone's made a movie from it.

A connection seems to have been made between the two books already on this thread.........so I'm just adding to that line of thought.
