Wilco (the album)

As part of Wilco's preorder promotion for their new album Wilco (the album), they were giving away free MP3 downloads of the album.

First listen impressions are that Wilco continues into the experimental realm, certainly more so than Sky Blue Sky but not as much as A Ghost is Born, and it seems to be a solid album. And Nels Cline still has his haunting licks.

It will be interesting to compare this to Son Volt's forthcoming American Central Dust (due out July 7) and see how far in opposite directions Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar have taken their music.

I'm going to go ahead and give it a (rounding up from 3.5).

I dig it, although, it took some time to grow on me. From reviews and such, it seems some people just can't be content with a content Wilco album. Oh well.

This is an assured Jeff Tweedy. He knows what's up. Just listen to him. Wilco will love you baby.
