Disagree with ending?

ive only had one experience in reading a romance novel and it didnt bother me so much until the end when she blames all werewolves vampires zombies and ghosts on hitler saying that he was not exterminating the jews, but rather performing experiments.. her talk of hitler as a person (dont get me wrong tho about the whole hitler thing- he was an evil evil man)... but she has this completely ignorant view of what happened and who is was... she even tried bringing in an old german man to introduce this idea at the end and the way she tries to write out the accent was hilarious...

I loved the ending of The Giver! I liked how there could be so many different interpretations of it.

It's hard to think of a book that I liked except for the ending. That happens to me more often with movies or plays.
The closest thing I can think of (at least that i read recently) would be Wuthering Heights by Bronte. It wasn't that I didn't like the ending.... I just felt like it was building up suspense for some kind of major revelation that never happened.

i much prefer charlotte over emily... emily is too upbeat and happy and romantic for me ... charlotte has such an amazing dark side to her ^_^
 
I never liked the ending of Night by Elie Wisel. It just seemed... so much less powerful than the rest of the book. And it didn't feel complete at the end.
 
I once read a book with such a terrible ending I nearly took it back to the shop in disgust. It was a good whodunnit with lots of possible murderers. The victim was drowned. I read through the whole book to discover she wasn't murdered at all, but it was an accident. Why, I ask, was that in the Crime section of the bookshop? Shouldn't it be in the "books that look like a crime was committed, but turn out to be accidental death" section?

I can't remember the name of the book now... otherwise I would warn you all not to waste your money.

Kind of SPOILER ALERT
ah man I loved the Giver all the way through, the ending was a little abrupt I guess they could have gone a little more into detail by saying how the world changed and how the people reacted.
 
I second Sphere. Actually, all of Michael Crichton's books have left me feeling this way. He's an incredible storyteller, but it seems that his ideas get so big that he doesn't know what to do with them in the end.
 
I also did not like the ending of "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" So many unhappy things happened at the end....not just the death of the main character. I liked the relationships that had formed and then everyone but one character remained with so little hope for a happy life. Everything was taken from her.....family, home, animals, friends. Seems a shame. The book left me feeling disappointed and sad. There needs to be a glimmer of hope left......
