one or more books at a time

are u the type of person who reads one book at a time or are u the type of person to be in the middle of 10 books at one time...

im usually in the middle of a ton of books but have been pretty exclusive to the wheel of time series since i want to read them before november 3rd and all...

I don't like to read more than 1 at a time. I feel to fully absorb the book, I can't let another one distract me. Plus I would be afraid that the other book would be so good that I couldn't put it down and when I get back to the other one, I forget everything that was happening.

yeah i get the same way but there are also times when i will be in the mood for a certain type of book or story or style... or i will want a quick read and pick up great gatsby to take a quick break from my crime and punishment type of a thing

I double up occasionally. Right now, for instance, I'm reading one book that's a bit too heavy to lug around, so I've got another one going for reading on the metro and the like.

Always an Audio book and a paper one.Not concurrently though.
And sometime two paper like BG,an heavy one and a light one(size or difficulty).

Always one novel at a time, but I sometimes will keep a book of short stories handy in case I want to put the novel down for awhile.

I generally have two books going at a time. One is usually am easier to read book than the other so that if I am unwell or tired I can have an easy read.

During the last couple of months my easy read books have been books in the Cat Who series by Lillian Jackson Braun.

When I was young I'd read up to four books at a time. Lack of a social life can do this to you :p. Now I just keep it at two.

That's how I feel as well. I rarely ever read more than one book at a time.

I have a few going on at once now, but I've stayed pretty exclusive with the Star Trek New Frontier series. It's my goal to get done before summer is over. ;)

see, i will normally be in the middle of all of my books haha.. i have book marks in almost all of them and i have a decent library.. ill have five in my car and a stack of three in my room ... and ill have read into all of them depending on my mood... sure it takes me a while to finish and recently i have stayed pretty exclusive to just wheel of time because im determined to finish them but i have never been able to only read just one book.. sometimes im in an anne rice mood, sometimes i want to laugh.. like tv or movies.. i read books based on what i feel like reading at the time... *shrug*

My online list tells me I'm reading six at the moment, and that I have started them all. It looks like I'll actually finish the one I am now reading (In the Night Room). Then I'll take a look at the list and reshuffle it. Probably choose one to read, and maybe defer a couple of the others onto the (virtual) back shelves for a distant day. Plus there is one coming in the mail and, who knows, I may start it. But a backlog of four to six partly read is about usual for me and I try to keep it at that. :)

Usually I just read one at a time, but lately I've gotten into audio books and have one of each (paper and audio), like saliotthomas does. Certainly makes walking the dog more productive ;-)

There are those rare time I find it necessary to read two books at a time, but one at a time is usually enough for me.

I am usually in the middle of a few. Generally one literary fiction type book, a non fiction, some brain candy in the form of chic lit or a thriller, the occasionally a classic as well. currently I'm reading Life of Pi, The World Without Us, Anna Karenina and The Alexandria Link.

However, if I really get into something, I read it until it's done...

I used to read only 1 book at a time but i decided not to long ago to read maximum 4 books at the same time. Presently, i have started a fictional book (Frankenstein), a non-fictional book about the analysis of sequences in cinema, a book that i read a bit each night before going to sleep (The essays) and an audio book ( The nutcraker and the Mouse king).
