A Song of Ice and Fire Tv Series

I reckon it will be a few years before it airs! But woohoo, I hope it will be worth the wait:)

I was thinking more along the lines of 8-12 months =O. It will be filmed in episodes and seasons. I dont see why it would take that long.

My link did not work, here it is.

"Fire" is the first TV project for Benioff ("Troy") and Weiss ("Halo") and will shoot in Europe or New Zealand.
Looks like they need to agree on the location, write the script, plus has any-one heard who will be acting in the series???

I reckon 2 years before the first show at least :(

Noooo!

Actually, it's excitiing, but it's also bad. Because, in my mind:

1. It detracts from GRRM's writing of the series. He's distracted enough as it is, leave him bloody well alone!

2. The show is fall flat in view of the books. This is because I believe what makes the book great cannot be translated properly into screen because it'll either be butchered, or it will be the boring-est show in TV. Not to mention it'll look pretty poor compared to what I had imagined the whole place to be in my mind. :)

Prove me wrong, GRRM (although I'm pretty sure I'm right. I usually am)!

I anticipate a long wait for the series premiere as well. As Martin himself said, they only made a deal several days ago. I'm thinking two or more years until the show finally airs. Hopefully by then he'll be (at least nearly) finished with writing the series.

Im scared, im very scared. I hope they arn't ruined. I love these books. I bet its only out in the US.

I haven't quite decided my view on this development, most TV adaptations fall short IMO and never come across how you think they should (or too much content gets left out). Hopefully they will prove me wrong though and produce a worthy series :)

I can't see it being aired for at least 18 - 24 months though.

From aicn:
“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” star Lena Headey will play the duplicitous Cersei Lannister in HBO's pilot for “A Game of Thrones.”

Cersei is the twin sister of Jaime Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (“Virtuality”), with whom she indulges an incestuous relationship that spans decades. Along the way she marries the hard-drinking King Robert Baratheon, played by Mark Addy (“Still Standing”).

Also cast in the project are Sean Bean (“Crusoe”) as Ned Stark, Kit Harrington as Jon Snow, Jack Gleeson (“Batman Begins”) as Joffrey Baratheon, Harry Lloyd “Robin Hood”) as Viserys Targaryen, Jennifer Ehle (“Possession”) as Catelyn Stark, Iain Glen ("Resident Evil: Extinction") as Ser Jorah Mormont, Tamzin Merchant (2005's "Pride and Prejudice") as Daenerys, Richard Madden (the BBC's "Hope Springs") as Robb Stark, Sophie Turner ("Doctor Who") as Sansa Stark, Maisie Williams as Arya Stark and Alfie Allen ("The Other Boleyn Girl") as Theon.

“The Visitor” director Tom McCarthy is reuniting with his “Station Agent” star, Peter Dinklage (who plays Tyrion Lannister), for the project, based on George R.R. Martin’s series of “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novels .

Apparently the filming of the pilot is supposed to have commenced this month in Northern Ireland :) It looks like we were correct with our long forecasts.

Hopefully the pilot will be a success and they go one to create the rest of the series.

Is it bad the only interest I have in seeing this is because Sean Bean is in it? Never read the books so I can't make a statement on those.
