Buy/Sell Section

Hey,

Either I'm blind or this section doesn't exist. I personally don't know how often I would use this section but it might be helpful to other members if there was a buy/sell section of used books by members of this forum?? Just a suggestion unless most the the people here want to collect the books they purchase.

Oh okay.

I had a feeling that most people like to build their own little personal libraries.

Is A Classified Section Possible?

I belong to a couple of similarly structured forums (photography) and they do have a For Sale / Wanted section which works extremely well and is a great alternative to *ba*. I'm new here so I apologize if this has been hashed about before, but would it be possible/desirable or too much trouble to have a Classifed section in this forum? We don't have to try to rid ourselves of our glut of $5 books but it would be nice to have a place where we can buy and sell nice properly graded First Editions for example. People's reputations on **ay could be a source of trust in these transactions; otherwise, deal with persons you feel comfortable with through their forum participation. Anyway, is it a possibility? Has a Poll ever been conducted? BTW I have a Shakespeare 2nd Folio for only $250...just kidding! Thanks for listening!:)

Probably.

Well, that would be my reason to post in a classified.

There are many online sites that do that already.

I would sell my books on a seller site and give or exchange books with members of this forum.
Anyway, is it a possibility?
The administrators will clue us in.
Thanks for listening!:)
You are welcome.

I would sell my books on a seller site....

Are you referring to places other than the bookshops on ABE for example? Are there book sites where individuals can list their books? :confused:Can you name a couple? I would appreciate hearing of them. This may not be of general interest (or maybe it is :) ) so a PM would be OK Thanks!

This would be a good idea. I don't know how active it would be, but if even a handful of folks use it, it would more than be worth it. The admin/mods should come up with some general guidelines about packaging etiquette, responding in a timely manner, and other things like that to ensure that the process runs smoothly. Most people here are long term members and you can figure out who would be most likely to fulfill their end of the bargain...abecedarian not withstanding.:whistling:

 Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...He's from Nebraska, you know...

Such a section might be feasible, but I can also see it being a moderator's toothache. The same rules for spamming would have to be enforced, but it might be a good idea to do on a trial basis. Ultimately it's up to the Big Boss anyway.

Actually I think it would be a great idea

I am of the opinion that if there are lots of places where you can list books for other book lovers to buy then I would also love to know of them.

I have a Reader's Digest condensed novel hardback that I'd like to sell. It dates from the '60s when my grandparents owned it. It has been rarely used and only took up space in the basement. I'm wiling to settle for $45.00 plus shipping to the lucky person who buys it. Holla back if you want it.

Would you take a check??:whistling:

Perhaps I'm stoopid and I just didn't find it - since I've not been here often this might be excused. I was looking for a special title and wanted to talk with other people who had read it - nil *amazed*

I do not know where this belongs to, but couldn't we have something like
THAT: Büchereule.de | Bücherrezensionen, sortiert nach Buch oder Autor
?

I know, I'll most likely get bashed on my head: sorting the threads is loads of work, but it would make it far easier, to see what books are already in discussion, if you could click on the autor and find the books that are already discussed in the forum

If you have used the search function and were unable to find the book then it has not yet been discussed.

Does that answer your question?
