Best place to read

I fall asleep fast if I start to read in my bed. The best place for me is my love-seat. I can lay down and read and rarely fall asleep.

I love to read outside, especially when the weathers nice. After that I love to read at a local Starbucks, with my iPod playing.

gonna sound a twinge wierd...but I like to read in my closet! I mean hey, It's comfy, and secluded, and one of the few QUIET places i can find. lol

For me it is definitely on the train....I moan about commuting, but then it's the only real time I get with books. hmmm

I always have found, and may be because I have a hectic home life, that sitting in a place where there is some noise, but not much in the background is the best place to read. Such places, like on a bus, or in the front room when the football is on, are two brilliant examples. The 'white-noise' effect of the sound is really good.. no definate clear sounds to focus on. This also goes for the rain. Sitting somewhere where you can hear the rain is brilliant too. Or actually tuning your radio to that space between stations, with the white noise. Turn it down, perfect reading.

Yeah I read best to white noise. My fiance is currently in the attic playing some guitar so now is the best time to read :)

You're lucky that you can read in the car. I get sick if I try to read while traveling. It makes long plane trips very boring. Reading in the bath is luxurious. Definitely agree with debee on that one.

I also get sick reading in car or bus. Basically anything that moves: these are the places where I don't like to read. So when I'm traveling by car, bus or even train I always find something else to do like enjoying the landscape lol. Cows and stuff. Listening to music during the trip is also nice. But no reading at all.

The only transportation where I feel comfortable to read is an airplane. It's a smooth trip (when there is no turbulence). It's almost like reading in a library full of people.

I like to read on my boat. Strangely enough, I get motion sickness when even attempting to read in a car or any other moving vehicle. On the boat I read just fine. Until the beer to page read ratio goes up. Odd thing is, I find myself reading the same chapter over for weeks.

I never tried boats. But I think reading in a boat in a flat lake may not be very different than reading in a plane.

Sitting in the hammock when nobody is home and the neighbors are gone and the tenants are gone...oups, that is a dream.

In bed at night, and everyone else asleep :D

Definitely gotta be on a recliner, using the natural light to guide the adventure.

No sound, no talking... just the words and the journey!

As long as I am alone, I can happily read. I can read on the same sofa that I cannot read on when there are people around when I am alone. Haha that made no sense

Do You Set-Up a Reading Area?

I sit on a recliner with a small table, on my side for other books and a drink, by the afternoon window. It is either that or I go to the library. You?

I've got a kind of rockin' chair up in the attic which I drag under the window if I'm reading up there, but otherwise no. I've never sat in the library to read, but do take a book out if I'm going hiking.

Prone on the couch is my favorite reading position. In the bed at bedtime is my second. No drinking or eating while reading, I don't want anything to distract me. I only sit upright to read when I'm reading the newspaper. Sitting upright for long periods of time maked me fidgety and uncomfortable.

Why was I not surprised this was an AquaBlue thread?

I don't have a reading area. I read whenever and wherever the mood strikes.

LOL. Me too. However, I do love the patio from spring to fall. I try to BBQ a lot with roasts, whole chickens, or other meats that take 40 minutes to an hour to get done. That way I can sit on the patio with a glass of wine and read. If my wife interrupts me to help with dinner I tell her I can't...gotta watch the BBQ.
