anyone in to asian films?

Anyone like Japanese Horror? I want to see ICHI THE KILLER but I haven't gotten up the nerve yet. It looks brutal but funny at the same time. I would like to hear from anyone who has seen it and if they could review it without spoiling the plot I would be most appreciative.

"Brutal but funny" pretty much sums it up, I think. It's very (VERY) violent, and even if it's mostly comic-book style violence it's still comic-book violence of the disturbing kind. It's also absolutely hilarious. I wouldn't say it's Miike's best film, but it's definitely worth seeing if your stomach is strong enough.

Thanks beer god. I am curious to know what you think Miike's best film is? Also, since you seem more familiar with Japanese horror than me, are there some other good ones you would recommend. I already saw Audition and liked it for the most part. The plot was to "skippy" with flash backs/dreams for my tastes though.

gozu and audition are his best imo. gozu is like a david lynch tribute movie that has a lot of miike's typical disturbing humor in it. i haven't seen happiness of the kutakaris but someone whose taste is similar to mine said it's one of his favorites.

edit: oh you didn't like the flashback and dream stuff in audition..we probably have different tastes then =(

I saw advertisement for Ong Bak 3 and it looks really good. Also I see HBO is starting new movie channel of Asian films. Channel is called Red.
