How often do you read?

I'm reading constantly as well. I read before class, I read between classes, I read if I'm in traffic, if I'm waiting for something (my book travels with me). I'm notorious for being early at various places so while I'm waiting - I'm reading.

I'm a huge fan of audio books so I get through a lot of books that way as well. My commute from my house to anywhere is always 20 minutes. That adds up!

I sometimes take the book to the pub for lunch.
Ah, one of the great pleasures in life ......... leave work early on a warm summer's day (not many in the UK though :( ) and spend an hour or so sitting out in the garden of a good Somerset country pub with a decent book and a glass of beer or three.

Oh no ! It's still January. Now where's that pub with the big open fireplace ? :D

You make me feel both lucky and guilty. I have (almost) unlimited time for reading and do take advantage of it. Just lately, with everything that's going on in the world, I have neglected a little my book-reading, spending too much time with the weekly press - no newspaper reader - and magazines on the net.

I try to read for at least an hour a day and longer when I can. I rarely watch TV in the evenings and can usually get a couple of hours in then. If I get a quiet weekend I can read all day both days which drives my better half mad:) .

My book is my constant companion. I never go anywhere without one. Like Dave B I love taking my book down to the pub. As he says, theres nothing better than reading in a good pub with a couple of pints of real ale to wash it down with. Bliss

I thought I'd ressurect an old thread!

I try to read every day. My usual time is after the children are all put to bed. I don't watch much tv, though hubby does, so I can get 2 to 4 hours in before going to sleep, depending on how interesting the book is. Weekends offer me more time to read, if the kids decide to behave themselves and the weather is nice. I have been known to read two books in one weekend.

I read every day. I don't own a T.V so lots of my spare time is devoted to reading. I do a lot of reading on the internet and probably more reading on the interenet than I do with books.

I read almost everyday. But since I have to read a lot for Uni I sometimes just don't feel like reading. Luckly that doesn't happen a lot.

Cajunmama, great thread to resurrect!

I actually did try audio books for a while, but I just couldn't get into the book. Too many distractions while driving caused me to miss parts of the story and such. For now my snatch reading of short pieces during my commute is working well. I promise I'm not speeding down the road with Wuthering Heights on the steering wheel or anything, I just read articles and other short pieces when traffic is jammed.
I've actually tried doing something like this, and well, *don't*. :)

It's expensive at best (untoward accident), and very unhealthy at worst ("He was a good man...").

A Dilbert strip once cost me 400 bucks many years ago. :)

That’s a very good idea. I should throw mine out. But what would I point all my furniture at?

I have phases - when I'm in my reading phase, I read whatever I want, for extended periods of time. Then another phase comes over me, probably computer gaming, and then that's all I do for that time. The phases can last from weeks running to months.

But I try to listen to audiobooks everytime I'm in my car, because that's the only condusive thing I can do while driving...

that depends on too much too bother you, so only a few thoughts from me!!

when i started a book I can't stop, if it is good, i want to keep going, if it is bad i think, that is has to become better, so I keep going anyway. I read sometimes until late at night, to be honest, mostly I don't even go to bed, I read until 7 o'clock in the morning and then i take a shower, dress and enter the new day!!

but when I finished a book, I need sometimes a couple days or even weeks to think about it, and when i really through this book and I saw every possibility, I start a new one..

I thought so often about it, but driving is okay, i mean i have my music and all this stuff, but what gets me really upset is the SHOWER!!!
For example: I'm lying relaxed on my bed and read a good and extraordinary book, it's getting late and you want to take a shower, but you don't want to put your book down, so what i need is, waterproof headphones, that when i'm in the shower can follow still my story, I just changed the medium!!
could anybody invent something like that for me?? :)

:) I like to read at least a little everyday, and have my upstairs books (a lighter read for bed and while in the bath) plus downstairs another book on the go for after Son in bed or afternoons when poss.....
I even buy a few smaller in size books that I can carry in my bag or car as handy in holdups, drs etc

But round here (Kent UK) It defy has to be Audio book while driving

I find I have "Primes " in my day when I read. Not really after dinner now, but right when I wake up and before I settle down for the night. I tend to read during lunch too.

I can sometimes spend a whole weekend reading, but I don't get as much time during the week. After I get home from work, I'm tired, and I find it harder to concentrate. :( Still, I try to squeeze some in. :)
