Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys ...

Have you read them?
Do you like them?
Do you like one over the other? (personally, I like the supermystery combos best)

When was the last time you read one? (gosh, been a few years)

A teacher reading us Hardy Boys a chapter at a time in grade 4 or 5 is what got me interested in reading. I got my parents to buy me the whole series and read them over and over. I still have them all and grab one every now and then for a quick read.

All? Good grief, there must be over 500 books with each series combined.

Are you talking about the hardcovers, softcover regular books, casefiles?

This was back in the '70s, so I am talking only about the "original" series of 58 books.

I never tried Tom Swift. The only things I read about him were the excerpts on the back of a few Hardy Boys books.

There are both Tom Swift and Tom Swift, Jr. books. Junior books are very old. Senior ones are even older than me, and so they are ancient and have never read them.

I read and reread the Nancy Drew series when I was a kid, loved it. Wish I had my original set!

There were a couple of other series, not mystery though, The Bobbsey Twins and Nurse Cherry Ames.

I haven't tried those... I considered it, but there were just sooooo many Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys that I sort of confined myself to them.

I got hooked on the Nancy Drew books when I was in third grade. I still have the books I got when I was little and I've been buying some more in the last few years. I seen a few on the bargain price shelves at Borders and it was hard to resist. I read two books in the original set earlier this year.

I prefer Nancy Drew more than the Hardy Boys. I keep seeing a bunch of Nancy Drew games for the DS and find myself tempted.

I've played several of the ND games... they're actually kind of fun. Go for it. Ebay has the older ones for under $10.

The newer ones are only $20 though. Oh, word to the wise, don't get the Secrets can kill... it's the first one where they couldn't figure out how to get the whole darn game on one disk... so you have to wait terribly long times to load b/t different disks to beat the game. It was really frustrating. The others are fine though. Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake is my favorite.

I love Nancy Drew

My aunt has a collection of Nancy Drew books that she gave me when I was younger. I really enjoyed reading it. I also read a few Hardy Boys but I prefer ND.

I love Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and Dana Girls. I grew up reading them. Teens my age were reading Sweet Valle High, but I was reading these mystery books.

Who here has ever read the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew and thought them boring?

It's strange that when I read them as a kid I loved them but now I re-read them and they're just okay. Maybe I'm just jaded.
