Hercule Poirot

Just finished Murder of Roger Ackroyd. It was a very clever mystery and character of Poirot is very funny. I will pick up more of these stories next time I work at library.

If you liked that one, try "Murder on the Orient Express". One of my personal favourites.

That's a shame. The good news is that Agatha Christie wrote quite a few Hercule Poirot mysteries, so you shouldn't run out anytime soon.

I've watched some of the movies but I think I've only ever read one of the Poirot books. They're usually very fun stories.

I just picked up Poirot book with 3 stories in it. I see they have quite a few Poirot novels there, as you say. Also, not only did this guy tell me how murder on orient express ends, but he keeps hitting me up for money.

Sounds like a rotten friend. He should have to give you money for spoiling such a good book.

I started reading through these in sequence a few years ago, need to get back into reading them actually as was quite enjoyable. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is a very good book indeed, but many of them are quite strong (with the exception of The Big Four which is a little wanting I found).

In addition to those mentioned above by others Peril at End House and The ABC Murders also stand out, and the book where it all started, The Mysterious Affair at Styles is also very readable and sets the character of Poirot up nicely for the rest of the series. Still lots more to read though...

Poirot is the only Agatha Christie hero I can read again and again...ironically, my favorites are the first and last Poirot stories, respectively: The Mysterious Affair At Styles, and Curtain.

just finished another poirot mystery. The Five Little Pigs. One of the best mysteries I ever read. Funny thing is I thought I figured out murderer halfway through the story. I thought I was very clever especially since at the end Poirot thought same thing but the surprise was we were both wrong and killer was someone else. I liked this one even more than Murdr of Roger Ackroyd which is supposed to be best poirot story.

I always prefer to read a series in sequence, and over the years, I've collected all of the Poirot novels.

I'm about due to re-read them. They are some of my favorite mysteries ever. Even the least of them has Poirot in it.

Hi

I'm a newbie here...

Love AC books, but haven't read too many of them just yet - I did read THe Mysterious Affair at Styles Need to get back to the library!

I'm reading a Dorothy Sayers book right now, my bedtime reading.

Just finished Poirot mystery The Commons. One of his best cases. In many poirot books I read lately, he is not even the main detective. However he is always one who solves the case. Now have hardback book A Poirot Quintet. Reading Mystery of the Blue train. Two of the stories in this book I read before.

I just finished reading Holiday for Murder, which used to be called hercule Poirot's Christmas, or something like that. Very appropriate for this time of year. Very good mystery and I thought I had it all figured out but I was totally wrong. I think my theory made more sense than the actual ending, but perhaps I am just pissed off that I was wrong once again.
