Favorite Manga of all time

Oooh... where to begin
1) Cardcaptor Sakura
2) Please Save My Earth
3) Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances)
4) MeruPuri
5) Clover
6) Paradise Kiss

And I really liked Nana until it got too... bleh. I stopped caring about the characters.

And also, saw the anime, and just saw the manga, and am saving up to buy Mushishi Vo. 1. From what I read in the bookstore (about a quarter of the manga), I highly recommend it.

@ What is a book? : Actually, there are a lot for girls as well as guys, and many have very mature and thought-provoking themes. I suggest you try reading some before you pass so much judgement on it. Also, I don't see where you are getting how it is unhealthy. Sure, it's not reading a textbook, but it isn't sitting in front of a television for half an afternoon either.

Death Note is good, highly recommend

(and if you buy the complete box set at once rather than getting the individual chapters one by one, you will save like half the price.)

My favorite list

These are my favorite mangas. You can read their reviews at my blog (the link is in myy profile)

1. Hana Yori Dango
2. Gakuen Alice
3. Bleach

i liked Cirque Du Freak series! Got onto them by looking at reviews posted on my site... before that i was never really much of a magna person... but starting to open my eyes to it now!

Also Vampire Kisses series is one to have a look at :)

Ah so many manga's so little time!! I like all the big names (like Death Note and Fairy Tail)

But I'm a reaaalllyyy big fan of the small ones that not many people know about! There's nothing better than stumbling into them..!!

i'll put a list up...at some point....ahaha. I need to decide which are the best..!!

Well? Post all of them.:D

Though it's a Korean manhwa I'd have to go for Priest by Hyung Min-woo. More info on the series here.

anime and manga

I am a new fan of manga and anime. I was shocked how sexually explicit some of it is. Many deal with alternative lifestyles. Some themes have rape in them. I recently read Black Sun by Uki O. A young European knight is taken advantage of by a Ottoman Turk.

Well when you say Manga are we only talking about printed media (books comics) here, eg not anime?

My first reaction would be to say 'Miracle Man'
But does 'The fabulous furry freek brothers' count?

Now for Anime the list would be different.

Either Monster or Parasyte. In fact I like most of Urasawa Naoki's later works (including Monster, 20th Century Boys & Pluto) and all Iwaaki Hitoshi's works. :)

yaoi manga ShortCut Love

I like all genres of manga, yaoi is interesting. I recently read an interesting but disturbing manga entitled "Shortcut Love" by Minase Masara. The themes include forbidden desire, rape, office polictics, etc. have anyone else read it?

So far (in no order) my favorite manga would have to be...
Planet Ladder
Wish
Marmalade boy
Ah My Goddess!
of course, as soon as I can get my hands on a kenshin manga that list will change..

Ah My Goddess! :)

Yes, I remember hiding the books in my locker when I was in the Army. We were allowed one shelf at the bottom for personal stuff then and since I was a live-in soldier, I brought along my Ah My Goddess! books to read during free time.

Ah My Goddess! tops my list. For now.

I still love Ranma 1/2, Love Hina, Sgt. Frog, 猫ラーメン(Neko Ramen), Urusei Yatsura and a few others. There is very good manga out there and much of it (though not all of it) has incredible artwork as well. Don't limit yourself because you think you're "too old."
