Amazon ebook publishing?

According to Amazon's site I can upload an ebook and they will sell it online. The details are all there. Trouble is, it seems that I need a US bank account (I am in the UK). About a year ago someone somewhere mentioned that Amazon were starting a Europe-based system where a US bank account wouldn't be necessary. Does anyone know if this has happened? Checking Amazon's site for such information is like swmming through treacle.

With everything being online these days, I'm sure you wouldn't have too much trouble setting up a US bank account if you're really interested. Most bank accounts are free so long as you keep a certain amt of money in the account.

Checking Amazon's site for such information is like swmming through treacle.

Swimming through treacle is actually quite easy, I've actually done it (charity thing)

But back on topic I'd say that it would be easier to wait for the European system to avoid difficulty with managing multiple accounts.
If you get a US account the chances are you'll want to transfer the funds over to your UK account for general spending.
Besides the general annoyance of having to do this I can actually guarantee you'll be investigated for possible money laundering. It's happened to me.

Researching on the topic I've read about a company called Payoneer which can help with global payment. At the createspace site there is information about how to get it to work.

I know as a non US resident you also have to get a tin number to be able to exempt yourself from being taxed.

Eight months later I have progressed just a tiny bit. I have uploaded a novel on to Amazon. It is digital, and only for Kindle. I want to provide hardcop[y (that is, a real book!) but I still haven't cracked the Createspace problem. They have still not got it right for UK writers.
