Dark Tower Film and TV Projects Officially Announced

stephenking.com said:
NBC Universal has released an in-depth press release that details the overall plans to make the long awaited Dark Tower film and TV projects a reality. Most importantly, the release delves into exactly how the oscar-winning team will structure the projects for both film and television.

With comments from just about every executive team member, this release answers many of the questions the Constant Reader has been waiting to hear more about.

Other DT threads:

I wish someone could explain the Dark Tower series to me. I read the Gunslinger many years ago and just didn't get it. I have some of the other books in this series but never followed through with them because the first book had me puzzled.

It has been recommended to skip the first and get to DT II: Drawing of the Three. DT I was written a loooooooong time ago and was written in a very different style (which is why I guess King updated and revised it this past decade). I don't think you'll be disappointed with the second book in the series. If you want more of an explanation, I have provided thread links above.

I think that both a tv and film series is an excellent idea as well. It will appeal to a mass audience as well as satisfy the "constant reader."

OK, maybe I'll give it another chance

I never finished The Gunslinger, and got halfway into The Drawing of The Three. I found both to be very boring, but I'm reading The Waste Lands, and it's good from what I've read.

I loved the first four books in the darktower series. I'm excited there will be a movie and TV series I hope they don't botch it up.

I'm worried, I honestly don't think Opie is the right person for this project... If it's good it'll be out of this world and if it's bad it'll be the most epic fail of all times.

Heard Ron Howard on the radio this morning talking about that they are looking at Viggo Mortenson or Javier Bardem to play Roland. He also wants to split the story up between film and TV.

Casting Aragorn as Roland? Isn't that like dividing by zero?
