I completely agree with you, and she has a finely tuned balance of descriptive prose where her settings do become almost another character of the book, she does this really well in Justice hall. Sometimes writers get so caught up trying to describe surroundings to evoke a gothic-type setting that it becomes tedious. King has it just right in my opinion. :)

I liked it for the twists and turns in the plot, even though the author took license with the way law enforcement officers operate.

Connelly is a genuis. I think the Poet is one of my favorite books of all time. I agree the Narrows was a little disappointing. Even though it wasn't his best, I believe his work is still ten times better than most authors' best books. Have you read any of his other books.
 
The Fall by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan

It wasn't as good as the Strain. The action and tension slows down a bit. The character development is better here. There are a lot of unanswer questions so the third book will hopefully cover all these topics and it should be a nice ending to this triology. I can't wait. :star4:

Not yet...but I saw another one of his books prominently displayed at the library when I picked up The Narrows...so once I finish reading the Sherlock Holmes pastiche I'm in th emiddle of guess what's next?;)
 
Revelation by C.J. Sansom :star5:

This really does have to be the best of the series, Sansom brings the era of Henry VIII alive and right to the reader.
 
Finished Jeffery Deaver's Sleeping Doll - It was an okay read. I don't think the villian was that great but have to give credit to Deaver this time for not adding to many twists that ruin the book. :star3:

I read this book in 2010. It is the only Deaver book I have read (so far). I have to agree it was okay (not great but not bad either).
