have you guys ever read an e-book? cause from what I found, it seems like everyone is reading physical book only

I guess people rarely read an ebook from cover to cover. It might be a section or for searching purposes.

For example, I have read a lot of ebooks that are technical in my field (Computer Engineering) I haven't read them all, but would cover a chapter to understand a certain concept. Other than that, I haven't.

I would never imagine reading a novel on my computer, unless on a PDA or a mobile ebook reader.

There are a couple ebooks that I've started reading because they were only available through the web-never published. But even though I enjoyed the stories, I hated reading off my computer screen. I'm willing to pay the extra money to get an actual book. You can't haul your computer on a bus and I don't have the $$ for one of those digital doodads

I own a few EBooks. I say own, because I always print them out to read. Reading from the screen just isn't as good especially when I only read at coffee breaks etc.

To be honest, I do prefer to have the book itself rather than an EBook. Which is why all the EBooks I own have come to me free rather than me having to pay :p

I have never read an actual ebook. Like Samerron, I have read certain chapters here and there from technical ebooks, but that's about it.

I hereby declare ebooks and abomination...:p I guess they are alright for some people but I would never read one...and never have...I just LOVE the smell/feel/look/touch of a REAL book. A book is a book. Nothing will ever change that, or replace it. :D

I've read a couple of e-books; I do prefer the paper book though - just the feel of it in my hands is much better than my Palm Pilot. The thing I like about e-book readers is that you can carry several favourites around with you in one small package. Also, you can insert notes/bookmarks into various places, without having to resort to using bits of paper. :)

"There are" , to quote Ben Franklin, "only two things certain in life - death, and taxes".

To which I would add a third - I will never read an e-book. They are an abomination, a perfect example of 'Why? Because we can' technology. IMHO.

I've started reading free ebooks from the Gutenberg Project, but only since I downloaded AceReader, speed reading software which makes reading on screen less unpleasant.

I agree that there's nothing like the real thing; but when you can get the ebook for free, as opposed to paying a fortune for classics, and they won't clutter up your house, just your hard drive, why not go for it?

I've read previews before getting the paper versions. That's the closest I've come and am likely to come. I don't really like reading on screens.

I don't think I'd mind reading an eBook if I had an eReader with that E-Ink (easier on the eyes). An ebook I've been enjoying is the Grimm's Fairy Tales collection because the stories are all so short and I don't have to spend a lot of time staring at my tiny, back-lit phone screen. I've been using B&N's nook app. Very nice and easy to jump from tale to tale.

Have you ever used a kindle? changed my life... and there are so many great books on the kindle store that might not ever get published as it is obviously difficult. AND most are very cheap !

I'm surprised you don't have a Nook yet. :whistling:
