Personal Reading Record

Not enough. That's my answer.

ditto.

Really my bipolar illness prevents me from reading much more than what I can read (yearly speaking). When in an bipolar episode my brain can't focus worth a crap, and such episodes do not share the same time span. One episode can last (shortest bout) three days or (at most) three months. Hence my reading ability is never in rhythm so my book count (read books) is almost always, if not always, on the low side. About, and this is sad, 20 to 25 books per year, give-and-take a few.

That's a sorry-ass number.

On the high end-54. On the low end-28. I'm not certain I would want a higher number on the high end of things, you have to have a life too you know.

All-time recorded high was 60 and maybe a couple.
Now I'm making new lows, 30 some odd last year, and slower start this year.
Life is changing.

It depends I guess. If I like the book then I make it a prority to read it wheather I have time or not so I'll stay up late if I have to whenever I'm done with things that needs to be taken care of. When the book isn't that good I'll only read it when I have free time.

I have started a new practice of reading every night before sleeping. An investment in a good book light made all the difference. It's wonderful. All lights are off except my book light and I'm finding myself really being able to concentrate and get into the story. I think this will really allow me more reading time this year. I'm not sure how many books I read last year but it's no where near 52! Good on you for that one!

Prior to this I was a weekend, sporadic reader.

I think reading in darkness works much better for me. No need to get distracted by the rug that needs vacuming or shelves that need dusting or any of the other multitude of things that really ought to be doing instead of sticking my nose in a book.

I see a stack of books as a stack of inviting universes. I find it hard to remain in the same universe for a long period of time while surrounded by other compelling worlds. So I do a lot of flittering from universe to universe. At any given time, I have a room in at least ten of them.

my best for a year was around 70, i can't remember exactly though because my hard drive died :( this year I'm at 10 books, but I haven't been reading very much compared to usual

I haven't ever kept that close of track. I usually read at least one book a week. Sometimes I will read way more sometimes way less. I would "guesstimate" that I read at least 50 a year. Probably more.

Probably somewhere in the range of 50-60. I haven't been tracking that long and only averaging 30-40 these days since I'm a full time student working around 15 hours a week.

I've read over 200 books in 2010 and over 200 in 2009, but only two in my previous 35 years.

I didn't have any goal for 2010 - but in the middle of the year I noticed that I only read four books or something. That's like nothing compared to my normal reading behaviour. So when I spent my time here, I spent my evenings reading and got in two weeks through with 10 books (and not only small ones). Nothing better than being lost in books for days. Well, but in total I just managed around 20 I think, among them Russian Poems and Laughter in the Dark by Vladimir Nabokov.

People, get some avatars! :D

I'm really poor at reading records. If you counted buying records I could jump right in. :) This year is closest to a reading apocalypse for me - I have started about 7 books concurrently, something I have never done beyond 2 books before, and now struggling to close them all out before even attempting to peek at another book.

I have done only 2 books thus far. But I have 7 open! :)

"...People, get some avatars..."

I have submitted an avatar, but it does not show when I post. Do you know how I can corrext this ?

Er, I was joking, actually (sorta). :)

ok, try this:
1. Go to User CP link, which is sorta top-ish of each forum page.
2. In your Control Panel, click Edit Your Profile Picture
3. Submit your avatar either through Options 1 or 2, and click Save.
4. You should now be all avatar-ized. If you don't see it still, then alert a moderator, because there's nothing else to do really aside from Steps 1 thru 3.

Let me know.
