Do you have any recommendations of books set in those times?

I've read quite a few from 'round then like Dracula, Frankenstein, The Picture of Dorian Grey, Wuthering Heights etc. But my favourite is Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind which was written in the 80's (I think) and you can tell it's relatively new, by the way it's written.

So any suggestions? And please give me a brief description.

Thanks :)

Try Pirates! by Celia Reese. It's about a girl who gets into a cruel arranged marriage, and how she escapes it by becoming a pirate. It's an adventurous story.

If you like comics, I suggest Alan Moore's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Mind you, that these comics are very literate and extremely enjoyable. You've got English Literature's fantastic Victorian era heroes such as The Invisible Man (he is awesome), Mina Murray from Dracula and Captain Nemo.
