Osama bin Laden is dead!

That's because they're idiots.

Don't get the whole cheerful mood anyway. Osama Bin Laden's being dead now won't change a thing as far as safety goes. He'll have been replaced by now - assuming that hasn't happened long before his death.
Also, cheering for someone's death is something I can't understand. No matter who died.

I can't speak for other faiths, but Christians are not supposed to gloat over the death of an enemy:
"Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them."
-Proverbs 24:17-18
There's another in Ezekiel I saw posted yesterday with a similar theme. And that's not even touching on those passages in the New Testament where we're told to pray for our enemies...Talk about yer can o' worms:whistling:

I'm not a Christian and my knowledge of Biblical verses is rather limited. Having said that, however, the idea of gloating over someone's death is just something I can't do. I'd rather they had caught him alive instead.

I agree. He might have faced execution for his crimes, but at least there would have been a trial, a public accounting for his deeds.

His demise sounds like it came right out of a Brad Thor book. It does sound callous to be rejoicing about someone being gunned down even though he seemed like a really evil man. I just hope that his violent end doesn't occasion equally violent retribution. momac

And so the new conspiracy theory is that Osama is not dead. He was taken alive and is now in custody.

Nah, he's in a secret detention center being questioned with enhanced interrogation techniques.

Leaked Doc May Have Forced US To Speed Up Bin Laden Raid

Wikileaks released a set of leaked Guantanamo prisoner files to the public last week. Among them is a document dated from 2008, which mentioned both Osama's trusted courier's name and Abbottabad, the city in which Osama had been hiding. There are speculations that, fearing al-Qaida realized their courier may have been tracked and move Osama, the US administration accelerated their plan and attacked the target site over the weekend. This link highlights the relevant section of the document.

Hurray for Wikileaks?

According to this site Bush helped Osama twice. Personally, I don't know what to think of it. Although it's interesting, the entire Obama-caught-Osama-and-Bush-didn't affair reminds me of a big ole can of worms.

I can understand that Americans are glad he is dead. But when i watched the news reports, the images of buffoons jumping up and down shouting 'U S A' made me cringe so bad. I saw one clown wearing a yellow bandana and sunglasses at 12 o'clock at night running around like he was at a college party

You have to remember these are images that are beamed around the world for all to see. If i was a muslim sitting on the fence it would make me think 'why should we show any sympathy for the plight of americans?'

yea, kind of reminds you of the Palestine celebration on Sept. 11th 2001

The difference is no American would be so enraged by what they saw that they would go to Palestine or wherever to blow something up or kidnap someone. They'd just get drunk and throw a cinder block through the local green grocer's window.

Nothing wrong with setting an example and taking the high ground.

I agree.

One of my coworkers told me he was happier that Osama was dead I could be. Why? Because bin Laden and his cohorts have made life exceedingly difficult for the majority of Muslims that have no axe to grind.
