Writer's showcase - I am a book

Was riffling through material I wrote for a creative writing course and came across a poem which I thought was in line with a book forum;

I am a book, much scanned, never read
With corners dog-eared from curious but uncaring hands
In anticipation I await a reader who will unfold my pages
Read, understand and with compassion
Explain myself to me
For I feel my plot too complicated
To unravel without the help of a kindly mind
My mind is not kindly
I judge the book too harshly
Not knowing what is there to be nurtured
And in not knowing leave to wither
That which love and understanding
May grant me the fairy-tale ending
Of happily ever after. momac

Writers Showcase - I am a book

Thanks LAgs - sometimes I wish I could get back in a writing frame of mind but lack the incentive - would rather read what others have written. Good luck with James Joyce, is it pretty hard going with that stream of consciousness writing? Haven't read it - should put it on my list of things to do. momac :flowers:

I know what you mean about the writing frame of mind. Although i'm really enjoying writing at the minute, i make a point to do some every day. Been writing for about six months now, and i can really see it improving all the time.

Reading Joyce sometimes it's hard work getting through if i'm totally honest. It goes off on tangents and i often find myself at a complete loss as to what he's talking about. Absolutely wonderful imagery though, sometimes you just sit back and have to acknowledge its' genius. I'll keep at it though

Thank you Fate: Now if only I could get back to writing a bit I would probably enjoy doing it but I seem to be stuck in the 'reading only' mode. :sad:

I like the idea that a boook is alive, that a book has feelings!
