Looks like the Northern Lights. Did you take that in L.A. or is that a net image of the Northern Lights? I remember seeing some crazy things in the L.A. sky d/t the smog when I lived there is why I ask.

Starry Night in the Shadow of the Aurora Night !
with the new moon on Wednesday and rain forecast for the rest of the week, last night's clear weather had me and a few friends driving out of town for some star trails. were we ever surprised when we saw the Northern Lights this far south!

Ugh, I'm starting to become a 'good photo' buff. Photography has always interested me, but I'm too lazy for all that dark room crap. But digital equipment is making it easier and easier to get a good shot. Makes me want to pick up a Canon Rebel, if I had the money.
