Why all the advertising on the forum?

Maybe everyone else knows but I haven't noticed the explanation, is it expensive to run this website is that why we have so much advertising and 'stuff' all over the page when we log on? I'm on a couple of other forums and they don't have all the messages like this one.

I think most people here use an adblocker of some sort.

Hmmm, about an hour or so I ago I posted in this thread that the site has been running much slower since the new ads over to the side have appeared. Maybe it's eating posts too?

Oh. Chrome?

Hi Lovecraftian - I tried Google Chrome but it came up with all sorts of pics and info when pulling up the website which wasn't on Google - I found things (sort of like what's on the forum now when I log in) that I just found distracting and a bit annoying so I switched back to Google. If I don't have a browser which allows me to block ads then I'll just have to go along with what comes up on here - just too much info which isn't of any interest to me.

I don't think it's excessive

Well, I'm the odd man out here, but I don't think that the amount of advertising on the website is excessive. They have to pay the bills and make money off of B&R somehow and the site still runs fast for me.

I guess my question was answered by Mr. Leonardo Noto about whether or not it was expensive to run the forum - hence the advertising.
