Why all the advertising on the forum?

Maybe everyone else knows but I haven't noticed the explanation, is it expensive to run this website is that why we have so much advertising and 'stuff' all over the page when we log on? I'm on a couple of other forums and they don't have all the messages like this one.
I think most people here use an adblocker of some sort.

Hi Lovecraftian - I tried Google Chrome but it came up with all sorts of pics and info when pulling up the website which wasn't on Google - I found things (sort of like what's on the forum now when I log in) that I just found distracting and a bit annoying so I switched back to Google. If I don't have a browser which allows me to block ads then I'll just have to go along with what comes up on here - just too much info which isn't of any interest to me.

Ohhhh, okay. Well, Firefox has great ad blockers. I rarely see ads and I go to a LOT of sites every day. A lot.
Chrome is the Google browser.

I use the other version of Google, the plain 'bread and butter' one, not the fancier Google Chrome, which I tried and switched back to Google.
I had no idea there was a non-Chrome Google browser.

Well, I'm the odd man out here, but I don't think that the amount of advertising on the website is excessive. They have to pay the bills and make money off of B&R somehow and the site still runs fast for me.
