Charles Dickens: A Christmas Carol

Now that sounds like the best way to read Dickens :)
It really does! I've read it a few years ago and although I loved the story which I already knew from seeing so many adaptations over the years, I didn't particularly liked the writing style...

We loved it! There was another book he liked to read at Christmastime too, not a classic though. It was T'was the Night Before, by Jerry B. Jenkins. That one was nice by lanternlight too. I'm sure we'd get tired of it if that was the only light to read by, but for special occassions, it was wonderful. I've seen videos showing Amish folks lighting their lanterns at dusk, and they have so many going, their rooms are nearly as well lit as mine, probably better.

Actually you get used to it very quickly and then you blink like a mole coming out into the sunlight when you get back into electric light. It feels too bright and too harsh.
