RIP Lou Reed

His collaboration with Metallica raised quite a few eyebrows among the critics. Personally, I really liked what they did. Of course, the VU stuff goes without saying.
 
I rather like to remember him on the cover of "Transformer"...nobody like it before, there'll never be anybody like it again.

For further reading there's a great tribute in the new Rolling Stone magazine. Picture of him with Laurie Anderson that epitomizes love in your later years. Goodbye Lou and Thank You
