Sherlock: BBC TV Series

Thank you!
very, very much! :)

Glad we are not the only ones. /sigh/ Darn it. Shudda, woudda, cudda. :(

I have enjoyed this series. I watch more BBC than American TV. I was so used to seeing Benedict Cumberbatch with curly dark hair, that when I saw a promo photo for the Hobbit with him with blond hair, he just didn't look right to me. It is true that when you start watching more BBC you start seeing British actors everywhere in TV and movies. The acting culture is so different from Hollywood.

By the way, when I try telling people about the modern version Sherlock, they always think I am talking about the Miller / Liu show Elementary (which I've never watched).

The old Jeremy Brett series was also very good.

And while I suppose many either loved it or hated it, I think the Downey Jr / Law take on Holmes and Watson was different but in a great way. Having read the the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories, I could totally put Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law's faces into the stories and see it happen.

Forest Girl, I enjoyed the Jeremy Brett SH series as well. I'd have to say, he was probably the very best Holmes I've seen.

Too, we both enjoyed the Downey SH films as well. The first more than the second though.

Elementary is an odd series. It's best if you don't think of it as Sherlock/Watson, but just as a detective series. If you do that, it's not bad, but pretty uneven. It's almost like they alternate between good and not-so-good episodes. I keep watching because I do like Jonny Lee Miller as an actor, he and Lucy Liu have a good relationship and I enjoy the side characters, like the cops played by Aidan Quinn and Jon Michael Hill.

I've wondered about Elementary. Only seen a few clips of it. I do like Lucy Liu though.

I enjoy Elementary, but other than the fact I like Johnny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, it seems very much a standard, American episodic detective TV series. I can go weeks without watching and don't feel I've missed much.

Pontalba, have you seen the second episode of Sherlock Season 3 yet? I watched the season out of order (Ep 2 and 3 first) and saw Ep 1, The Empty Hearse last. I really liked Ep 2 and 3.

Not yet. I can hardly look at the DVD cover, I'm so disappointed. Husband isn't thrilled about continuing either. Perhaps when we finish, up to date with Person of Interest we'll peek. Hah, just heard a grunt.....it does not bode well.....

Maybe you'll have to take a peek when said 'grunter' is out of the room. :D

I like Person of Interest, too. I just hope they're not writing themselves into a corner like Lost.

Nah, we watch stuff together. :eatpop

Well, the combination of Nolan and J.J. is a good one, to say the least. Nolan's gotta have an out.
I loved Lost.....and actually the reason we started with POI was on account of Michael Emerson, aka Ben from Lost. :D But we watched Lost straight through on DVD.
I'd only seen part of the first season when it was first on TV. Then Hurricane Katrina hit, and we didn't have electricity for 2 weeks, so I missed two episodes.......the death knell for that show!
