John Green: Looking for Alaska

What are your thoughts on LFA by John Green. I was really excited to read it since all the good reviews of Greens work. The book is set into two sections Before and After (not going into more detail because I don't want to spoil the book) but I was really intrigued and excited by the before part and really looked forward to more but I felt once I read the climax of before I couldn't see the book going further but I continued to read it since I have a OCD and HAVE to finish a book. But it was so boring. And one part that creeped me out when it started going into detail about porn and them kissing creeped me out because of a nearly 40 year old man writing child pornography but eww anyway what's you thoughts on the book ?

Hi I completely agree with you - the book is majorly overhyped yet dull as anything upon actually reading it.
I felt like none of the characters were likeable - partly due to being annoying boarding school kids but also due to their incessant obsession with pranks and ridiculous profound quotes/interests/philosophical outbursts. They're also incredibly one dimensional, all filling out a sort of archetype and nah.... Just didn't connect with it really. Was just glad when it was over. :')

I ruined it for myself, I read the little summary on the title page, where it has all the publishing information, usually they don't spoil the book, but this one did and then I read the whole book just waiting and I was a bit frustrated. I agree that the characters aren't likable at all, and that made it just kind of boring. And, yeah agree that it was kind of uncomfortable with the sorta sex scenes cause it was kids and John Green isn't a kid. Really didn't live up to hype at all.
