I have an iPhone 6 Plus, and I use a number of different eReading apps on it. Most often I find myself on Scribd or Oyster, but I've also been known to download things to the Kindle and Nook apps.

yes.. i read from the iPad, and have no issues with my eyes.. well, no extra issues anyway. :) i like that i can read at any time of night or day, but i do lower the brightness some most times to save on battery and glare.
I just won an i pad at a Christmas party. How is it for downloading books from Amazon?

I have used a Hudl for three years and find it useful for reading in winter when ambient light is low. Somehow electric light never seems to make a paperback look quite bright enough.

Amazon is deliberately limiting because it primarily wants to sell kindle.
You would be well advised to go to other sites and use pdf files instead and it would cost you much less.
