Well I don't know much about business...other than "monkey business"...LOL
But I do think that having a plan for long term , steady profit beats a large , but short lived windfall....

Hahah, yes I'd agree! Profits always beat windfalls! You said you were part of the military?

Yes ... I was in the Army...serving mostly in Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol Units ( L.R.R.P ) or Long Range Surveillance Detachment Units
( L.R.S.D )
Which basically means that one is both Airborne and Ranger qualified and conducts patrols both of the intelligence and combat kind , deep behind enemy lines.
( It is not as fun or glamorous as it sounds...LOL )

Well, thank you for your dedicated service, good sir! I certainly appreciate what you and those like you sacrifice to keep us safe and free.

I am reading about history in ancient Egypt and very interested in the history and how they use to live in those times..Normally I would just read 1-2 books at a time, during the day.But since the book I am reading is so detailed I need my concentration and focus to finish each chapter.I use to read the history facts but that only had a few things about ancient Egypt,Wiki on google is also handy. I really don't like romantic books because it gets out of the point. I like reading its simple like that :p

I'm falling way behind my usual pace, ever since we acquired a new TV and learned of streaming mystery and detective series.
I'm currently alternating between two books from the top of a pile of about half a dozen books (fiction, politics, history).
Specifically, I'm half-way through The Kindness of Strangers by Salka Viertel -- a memoir of a long life in acting.

Hi all,

I know we all love to read, that's why we're here! But meeting our reading goals isn't always easy, at least not for me. I'm curious as to how much (as in how many books, minutes per day, etc.) you all are reading each month? How much would you ideally read in a given month? If the answer to these two questions is the same, do you have any tips for meeting your reading goals? But, if you're not meeting your reading goals, what is getting in your way? I know, for me, a lack of time always seems to be the issue. Also, books can get pretty pricey!

Thanks for the insight and advice everyone!

Depends,On a rainy day I would read 1-2chapters of my big book,Other days I would read short storys .I don't really have a goal just keep reading . You get use to reading, you'll read even more.

I have not really given myself a monthly reading goal but I have finished about 6 books in the past few weeks. I am a TEFL teacher most recently posted in Vietnam and the hours I kept allowed me the time to read a alot. My mother had a stroke so I came back to the US and have been afforded a bit of time to read while she recuperates. I say all of that because I know my situation may be a bit unique. Work hours and children can reak havoc on available hours for reading.
