Need help identifying a book I read

The plot revolves are a bigger than life man who’s estranged son comes to visit him. The father is always on the go and abusing himself and his body with drinking and a dangerous lifestyle. The Father is a movie director and stuntman and finds himself with the woman of his dreams, but due to his ego he is going to lose her when he refuses to drop a stunt that the woman of his dreams believes will kill him. It’s either her or the stunt. He chooses the stunt, loses the girl and dies of a massive heart attack in the end.

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I appreciate any information if this book sounds familiar to you.
