The George Lewis New Orleans Ragtime Jazz All-Stars Live In Tokyo, 1954

Here is a clip of George Lewis and his New Orleans band in concert in Tokyo, 1954, blowing the house down with "Ice Cream". This should get your feet moving and your butt shaking. As usual, the Japanese crowd was considerate in waiting to the end to applaud. Recordings can't put you in the hall, but this one gives an inkling of the rhythmic power and and intensity the Lewis band could generate in person.

thanks for this video/film. I don't know much about jazz, but I like what I've heard, mostly. In the 60's,
when I started going to "clubs" (God, that dates me!) many of which were simply the back room of a pub,
the music was usually Traditional, with a group of bank clerks and shop assistants trying to convince their
audience, and themselves, that they were from New Orleans. But some of them, at least, did sound
pretty authentic to my uneducated ears.
I'll stop now before I drown in nostalgia. And it's 2:30 a.m.
