Covid-19 Vaccine

Have you gotten vaccinated ?? Did you have a reaction ?? How are you feeling now ??
I had a reaction after the first Pfizer shot, actually, 5 hours after this first shot, I had a sore arm....it was an intense muscle pain . Reminded me this pain of an old brachialis tendonitis injury, so the next day I had to take medication 'cause I couldn't neither raise my arm without cried out « Ouch !! »
While my improvement in the deltoid was going very well, my surprise arrived 3 days after when I realized I had a swollen lymph nodes . For my peace of mind, this swollen lasted for less than one week . As it seems, this kind of reaction ( a bit rare ) is a sign that the immune system is getting to work . On july, I will get my second Pfizer shot...

I've gotten my second Pfizer shot and the only reaction I had, was an arm pain and I felt a little tired .
I've had my two shots, luckily with no more than a sore arm for a couple of days. Infinitely
preferable to the pain and possible death from COVID which so many people have suffered.
Masks are uncomfortable. Social distancing is tedious and easy to forget. But in the name
of sanity, surely these are mere inconveniences compared to the horror of knowing that
you may very possibly have passed this infection onto others by not taking basic, easy
steps, based on proven, undeniable medical science. I usually don't find it difficult to
disagree with friends and family members about social and political controversies,
without anger or contempt, without weakening a friendly, sometimes loving,
relationship. But not this time. If I expressed my full opinion of those people who rant
about "tyranny" when required to observe fundamental care and respect for
the welfare of their neighbors, and who describe protective masks as ''Satanic'', I suspect
my comments might be deleted by Facebook, since I would be moved to use extreme
language, which this Forum, rightly, tries to avoid. But at least I will say that the idea
that there is anything diabolical about face masks is absurd. When I lived in England
my friends and I wore masks in October and November, up to November 5th. As
many Americans know, this day is known as Guy Fawkes' Day or Bonfire Night and
commemorates the Gunpowder Plot, a conspiracy in 1605 to blow up the House of
Commons while it was in session. Neighborhoods or individual families build a
bonfire, on which they burn a ''guy'', a life-size figure of a man, made from old
clothes, usually just a jacket and pants, stuffed with rags and straw, representing
Guy (or Guido) Fawkes, who was captured in a cellar of the Commons, about
to light a lethal store of gunpowder. The bonfires are accompanied by fireworks.
And-most-people-especially-the-children-wear-masks. I have never heard anyone
describe these masks as ''Satanic''. If they did they would be ridiculed. And
they would deserve to be. One more example. Some years ago I had an operation.
Not serious, but I needed to be knocked out for a while. When I came round I
was surrounded by a number of men and women WEARING MASKS! It did not
occur to me that I was in the hands of a coven of devil-worshipers. I was naive
enough to believe the masks were appropriate to the medical procedure. I had
not been brainwashed into believing that masks were "Satanic'' (my parents
had even allowed me to watch The Lone Ranger on T.V., little realizing that
he was a Satanist).
I said that I would try not to be too aggressive in my disagreement
with the anti-maskers. I find that I am unable to remain calm when thinking
about the the suffering and loss they have caused and are still causing. As
I have said, I can,,and usually do, respect people whose views are very
different from mine. But when their views are founded on fanaticism and
the elevation of scientific ignorance into a virtue, and are directly responsible
for the suffering of innocent people, they do not deserve respect, and I cannot
give it.

Sadly I lost some relatives and some friends to Covid in the third wave, when the restrictions were still serious and the gatherings for attending to wake or burials wasn't allowed....So, I couldn't give my condolences by own initiative « motu propio »» don't even to my family....And in spite of having been fully vaccinated I'm still wearing mask when I have to go outside, because I also know fully vaccinated people that contracted the Delta variant

It is difficult for me to have any understanding of those who refuse to see what is in front of them. Over 700,00 thousand dead in this country, and still they rail against “tyranny“. Tyranny of what?? Is death not tyrannical enough for them?
The casual attitude of many people just floor me. Don’t they watch the news? Denial Is rampant.

We both have been vaccinated, but still double mask when on the rare occasion we enter the grocery store. We still mostly use the curbside pick up for groceries. I miss shopping, walking through the department stores, touching everything, the tactile experiences. But it ain’t worth getting Covid-19.

Your post expresses exactly how I feel. Those who rant about ''tyranny'' and, absurdly, ''Satanism'' are themselves
the tyrannical ones, in their denial of protection to their neighbors, their co-workers, and most horrifyingly, to
their loved ones. They are snatching protective masks from the faces of their children, they are threatening and
actually assaulting teachers and others who promote and try to implement measures which are proven,
P-R-O-V-E-N, to greatly reduce the risk of contracting COVID, the killer disease. And they are doing all this, these
evil actions, in obedience to an ideology, a fanaticism, which has no basis in fact, science, or simple decency. That so
many people swallow this ''Satanic'' nonsense is desperately depressing, as well as viciously dangerous. And UTTER
NONSENSE. Any worker using dangerous equipment or working in toxic surroundings wears protective clothing,
Anti-COVID face masks are precisely that. I can see absolutely no moral, ethical, grounds for refusing to wear them
or for preventing others from wearing them. As I said earlier, as a kid in England I wore masks many times, especially
around Guy Fawkes' Day. I hope B. & R. members will take my word that I am not a Satanist.
I try not to hate. I know, and constantly see, how often hatred, as well as being directly responsible for vile
acts and attitudes, distorts and reduces peoples' ability to rationalize about issues. But it is becoming difficult
for me to think about the anti-mask crowd with even one ounce of respect for their motives or their arguments.

As the other half of pontalba (her husband) I am glad she has a very cautious view of the pandemic. I am in the highest risk group for any and all variants, under any and all conditions, and I sincerely appreciate her scrupulous attention to trying to keep us alive. She has succeeded so far.

Actually, I think the government could adopt a more vigorous and radical approach toward getting people to wear masks. I don't think the altruistic argument about preventing the transmission to other people is very effective. People, it seems to me, are more interested in #1.

From my point of view I am very cautious about people who are not masked and I would prefer a more aggressive slogan campaign, perhaps more like: "Wear a mask! Stop killing people!" At my age, that seems to me to get more directly to the heart of the matter, unrealistic though I readily concede it to be.

I too, as much as anyone, long to get out and around and doing things again, like shopping, restaurants, and the gym. But we have maintained a self-imposed quarantine for 73 weeks now, and it seems prudent to continue.

I truly grieve for families who have suffered from the disease. The fortunate rest of us should always keep them in mind as the whole reason for vaccines and masks and distancing. There is nothing more important.

PS: Added note: We got the two Pfizer shots and booster as soon as they were available, with negligible side effects, and we are thankful for them.

Meanwhile,
Stay well,
Peder

'' Wear a mask. Stop killing people.'' A totally justified comment, though I know it will simply confirm many of these fanatics in their
fanaticism. Masks save lives. This is a fact. An absolute fact. Not ''political propaganda''. Not unscientific. Just the truth.
Those who oppose masking are saying, precisely, that it is better that people should die than that they should be required to
wear a mask. ''They'', their colleagues, their relatives, their friends. Themselves. Would they really prefer to lose a child, a parent,
or a partner to this horrible disease than to wear a mask? Apparently, there are many people who would. I have heard some of
them speak, I have seen some of their writings. I have not seen any of their arguments that were not completely unimportant
when set against the murderous effects of their anti-mask obsession. Factually trivial. And morally. A person is doing nothing
''wrong'' by wearing a mask, unless it is for disguise during a crime, such as a bank robbery or terrorist act. I grew up in a city
which had periods of smog in Fall and Winter, foul and unhealthy. We wore masks. For our health. Our protection. Not to
proclaim our allegiance to Satan. (''Down with masks! Masks are Satanic.!'' Idiocy.) In many areas of political or social
controversy I tend to avoid dogmatic assertions. ( Except with my wife, perhaps!) But the anti-mask lobby is one which
is difficult for me to think about calmly. The anti-mask campaign has killed people. Is killing people. And will kill more
people if it is not exposed as the, ignorant, shallow nonsense that it is.

I'm with you entirely on that sentiment. But I'm afraid my optimism has faded to nil.
I'm resigned to the thought that maybe we are looking at what will be the 'new normal' in this sparkling Information Age which is upon us.
I don't know where these people come from, or where they got their education -- but certainly not in any school I have ever attended.
Big changes are coming and the U.S. will never be the same, which I usually regard as a problem for my children to solve.
I know that's not constructive, but at least it does lead to greater peace of mind.
Take care,
Stay well

I've had the Omicron variant not long ago, my symptoms were an intense sore throat, which made me until to loss the speech and a lot of irritating cough....When finally I managed to leave of this « voiceless nightmare », my breath turned into Wheezing . Now, I have to carry a reliever inhaler in my pocket, I have asthma... An aftereffect of this illness that I don't understand.....'cause I've never smoked

Cosimah, I'm a little late in responding, so I hope that maybe you are perhaps feeling somewhat better.

Years ago, before all this covid, I had a severe case of pneumonia, which eventually cleared up and left me with asthma. I used an inhaler, as you are doing, and after a while the asthma also cleared up. And I am a never-smoker too. So I hope the best for you and that your asthma will pass also.

Hi Peder, apologies for my late reply....Fortunately, my asthma eased although on Spring due to my pollen allergy and as I couldn't take my treatment because was contraindicated for another circumstance, the rhinitis allergic led to me some asthma attacks --- Now , I feel great !!
