Fairy tale? Impossible to find...

Good evening everyone...
I have been looking for the title to this story. The description the person gave me might not be completely accurate, but I will repeat what she told me:

The story is about two fairies and a troll. As usual, the troll is a big hairy ugly monster thing that people try to avoid. The two fairies make fun of the troll and the troll starts to cry, and seeing this, the fairies try to cheer him up, and eventually they became friends.

[sigh]

I spent the last year and a half looking for this, but without the ISBN and/or the actual title, as well as the more accurate description, my search has come up empty. Concurrently, I realized that I might be able to find this title with the help of a book forum, and so I hope someone out on the web can help me with this. Any resemblance of this story is welcomed.

Please leave a note here, or email me at bundleofnoodles@yahoo.ca if you have any clue (even a little) to my inquiry. Thank you.

It doesn't ring a bell to me. What country was she in when she heard it? That might help your search. Also, you can post a note in the children/teen forum on the site in my siggy. Maybe someone there can help. Good luck!

Philippines (sp?)

She was about five years old when she read the tale. However, I have a feeling that this book will not be in the Philippines (sp?). It's most likely either an European title or an American one, but of course, I have no idea...

I just hope that I can find it before August 2003 comes around. I am hoping to give her a birthday surprise.

Thanx for the tip... 8]

The best thing to do with would be to scour collections of fairy tales (for example Grimm's Fairy Tales ) or a encyclopedia of such. I don't think its one of Hans Christian Andersen's or Oscar Wilde's fairy stories which are quite well known.

Thanx everyone

I already found the book two months ago, after searching through 500 queries. The book is called "Gyo Fujikawa's Come Follow Me..."

It's great. The story about the troll is in there - "Wartie the Friendly Troll". 8]
