What is the best book you have read? The best book I have read is The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

the last temptation of christ. such a frickin awesome amazing book. wow. also the divine comedy is really really great.

To choose only one book, now that is difficult. I think I would say Animal Farm, but I am likely to change my mind!

Since you make me pick only one I'd have to say the Harry Potter books, because I enjoy reading them so much. If I could pick another one I'd say Lord of the Rings because of the languages!!!

Your second choice, Linguana, is my first choice: The Lord of the Rings. I like your name by-the-way. And your signature for that matter. :D

I can't think of only one book, but Tolkien's LOTR was definately the most magical. The Stand by Stephen King, too - and Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier wove a very powerful spell and last but not least, The Secret Garden by F B Hodgson.

Nice to meet you all!

Choosing just one book is like choosing just one pasta or one chocolate -- Impossible. So I'll arbitrarily say Joyce's "Ulysses," then I can go on to compliment Everett on the brilliant avatar, which is what I really wanted to do. :)

Les Miserables - Victor Hugo
1984 - George Orwell
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
Brave New World - Aldeous Huxley
The Life of Pi - Yann Martel
(there are more but best not go on...!)

I can't pick one BEST BOOK EVER, so I will pick the best book I've read lately. That would be "Blindness" by Joe Saramago. It's bloody brilliant. Absorbing, terrible, cruel, beautiful. I can't wait to read it again

Tuesdays with Morrie

I've came across to a lot of good books in my life but the best one is definitely the "Tuesdays with Morrie".
It's not long and doesn't have any climax or an unpreditable ending. But I love it so much because it talks about life, friends, love, hatred, and sort of things. It inspires my thinking and I learn a lot of things about life and I'm craving to read it once more. I'm sure each time I read it, I get something from it and they're different from what I got last time.

My favorite part of the book is the chapter talks about people're just following the culture that they may not like but not making their own style. That's poor but almost all the people in the world are doing this.

I can't say what the best book I've ever read is. That's impossible for me even to think about!!! I will say, however, that the best book I read in 2004 was "Beneath a Marble Sky: A Novel of the Taj Mahal". - Jane
