Can you go into a book shop and not buy any books? I can't :D I was in them on Saturday and was luck to get out with only buying three books. The only reason it stayed to three was they dragged me out

I rarely go into book stores precisely because of that!!! And when I do, I leave the credit card and checkbook at home and only bring a limited amount of cash. And on the even rarer occaision that I purchase nothing, my companions have been known to check me for fever, chills, hallucinations, that sort of thing...

Same applies for fabric stores.

Yep.. I rarely buy books in a shop, I mostly buy them over the internet. I only buy books in a bookshop if they are really cheap.
I did buy 7 books today while browsing the shop.. but then they where really cheap.

I remind myself that I can probably find them cheaper online, and then STILL end up coming out with at least two books.

How long do you have to wait before it shows up on your doorstep? My online bookseller delivers within 14 days, and even then I consider too long. I'd rather get the book from the store and do the little rain dance sooner.

But then, there's discount from the online store. What to do, what to do?

Amazon can delver next day here :) You pay a little extra but they can do it. If you just go for normal postage it's just 2 or 3 day ( assuming they are in stock ) till you get them.

Arrrrgh! Amazon can take up to 2 months to come here, via shipping! I would have babies who could recite the alphabets by then!

Depends on what book it is, but about two weeks because they have to order them home from England or some such place, but once in a while I get them the next day. Then there was the time I orderd The Divine Comedy, took them 4 moths before they told me they could not delivere it...

I managed to go into a bookshop and leave without buying anything today!! I went into Waterstone's to try and price Wolves of the Calla, couldn't find it, realised I was going to miss my train if I stayed, so reluctantly left as there wasn't another train for an hour. It's not something I can recall ever doing before though! :D

Yes I can go into a bookshop and not buy any books - it usually ends up with me having to drag Phil out :p He does insist on going into three different bookstores everytime we go into town

It's rare I buy a book just through browsing, generally I go out with a specific book in mind to buy and rarely buy others. However Phil regularly buys 3 for 2 books

I can't.
Every person, who goes in a bookstore with me, has to help me to carry all the books I bought... =)

I like the idea of buying on the net, but I love the environment in a bookstore, i like it to talk to the people, they stay there, too, and (sounds crazy and strange) I like the smell and the noises, when everybody lookes through the books, and all this crazy stuff, you can't expire if you buy in the net!! It is cool to see, how the faces change when the people find something interesting.

have a nice day

Difficult

If I try hard, sometimes I get out without books, but after leafing many of them for a while, I only get out without deciding what to buy out of respect for my friends who remember that we have other things to do on that day or start staring at the ceiling. This winter holiday I bought a pile of books and when people asked me if I wanted particular presents for Christmas I said yes, some books.......and I also borrowed another pile from a friend of mine.
So........am I obsessed?

God, I'm horrible with that. I tend to spend money that I need for clothes or food or gifts and spend it on myself because I don't pay attention to the amount that all the books will come to. It's horrible because there is this HUGE Barnes and Noble in the mall right here near my house and another huge one right down the street from me.

Now that's what I call TEMPTATION! It's hard enough for me when the book shops are far away from me! lol

i worked in a bookstore for 3 years. had it not been for the very gracious owners who encouraged staff to read on the job and the loads of advance readers, i would have definitely owed them money each paycheck.
